SSW/R&B singer aimi released her new single “I’m OK” today.
This album was produced by US R&B producer LEJKEYS, who has worked on Jhené Aiko’s Grammy-nominated album “Chilombo”, Anderson .Paak, Yuna, Awich, AI, etc. Producer Shingo.S, who has continued to support the Japanese R&B scene, also participated in the co-composition, resulting in a sound that makes you feel the “now” of R&B that is spreading across the world.
The lyric, which has the theme of self-acceptance and accepting oneself as one is while exposing one’s weaknesses and conflicts, reflects the real feelings of the singer, who took a break from the end of last year due to vocal cord surgery. Her relaxed, natural vocals and positive messages soothe the hearts of her listeners, and she gives a refreshing boost like a spring breeze. The jacket photo was taken by photographer 217…NINA. I collaborated with aimi and Shingo when I rented out a studio in Tokyo for a week because I wanted to connect with artists in Tokyo. I heard their past work and wanted to work together, so we decided to do a session. We had a great jam session and were able to create such a fun song. The production process was very natural. I’m looking forward to seeing what will come out of the upcoming sessions!

R&B singer/songwriter. He utilizes his free-flowing songwriting skills in both Japanese and English to master the current R&B sound that incorporates the flavor of his 90s and 00s R&B roots. All of his works to date have been self-produced, and he handles everything from songwriting, visuals, and label work himself. In 2020, he released his 1st EP “Water Me” as aimi. First debuted at number 1 on the iTunes R&B/Soul chart. Although his nameless lead song “Sorry” was selected as J-WAVE’s Sonar Trax. In 2021, they released their 2nd EP “Changed 4 Good”, and the number of streaming has increased in Asia as well. In February 2022, he released his 3rd EP “Chosen One”, which once again topped the iTunes R&B/Soul chart. He has held the event “STAY READY”, which he launched himself to liven up the domestic R&B scene, twice at Space Odd in Daikanyama, and it has been a great success.
