■ “If I can’t choose SHOW-YA now, it’ll be the worst, and SHOW-YA will be embarrassed for SHOW-YA” (Masatoshi Hamada)
Hosted by Masatoshi Hamada, top entertainers team up to undergo six checks on “Celebrity Rating Check Autumn 3-Hour Special.” While the New Year’s rating checks assess top-notch items such as wine and musical instruments, the Autumn 3-Hour Special will feature very simple checks on “food” and “art.”
This time, 13 people including Nanao, who said, “I’ve always wondered why I wasn’t called,” and Arata Iura, who looked happy that “this day has finally come,” will be taking part in the ranking for the first time. They will liven up the show.
The first check is “clear soup.” Participants drink a soup made with conger eel, a high-class fish, and a soup made with a highly venomous snake, a habu, and have to guess which one is the real deal. The correct answer is wild conger eel from Wakayama Prefecture. It is a high-class product that is also used in long-established restaurants in Kyoto, and costs 4,580 yen per fish. The incorrect answer is a habu, a highly venomous snake that inhabits the Okinawa and Amami Islands. The habu snakes used are freshly caught by an expert habu hunter in Okinawa. They are not poisonous. Shirota Yu, who calls himself a “conger eel lover” and participated in the check, made the surprising declaration that “if I get it wrong I’ll retire from showbiz.” What will the results of the check be?
The third check that the entertainers undergo is “Rock Band”. They will compare the performances of SHOW-YA, a pioneering female hard rock band that debuted in 1985 and made its way globally in 2021, and a band of elementary school girls with an average age of 10 years old, all of whom are girls who are proud of their musical instruments and have been gathered from all over Japan, and guess which one is SHOW-YA’s. The song is the smash hit “Genkai LOVERS”. SHOW-YA’s vocalist Keiko Terada will sing it both professionally and as part of the elementary school band.
When three of the five members of SHOW-YA were introduced as Hamada’s classmates, Hamada said, “You’re doing great.” Terada also couldn’t help but say, “It’s exhausting.” Hamada then put pressure on the entertainers, saying, “If we can’t choose SHOW-YA now, it’ll be the worst, and SHOW-YA will be embarrassed for SHOW-YA,” but Terada said, “(The elementary school girl band) is like my grandchildren, so it’s a lot of fun,” and showed her confidence as a first-class musician by saying, “We never fail.”
During the check, Nanao said, “A legend and an elementary school student is a bit much…” and declared, “I’ll definitely receive the spirit of rock,” and Iura, who was watching, also trusted her, saying, “(Nanao) is usually rock, so I think she’ll be fine.” Also, when Deguchi Krista said of the judo gold medal team, “It’s like an older sister and a baby,” Kakuta Natsumi, who was being checked, said, “If there’s such a big difference in judo, there’s no chance of a match.” “Even if you compare it to judo,” Hamada said with a wry smile.
When the actual performance began, Maki Fukuda of 3ji no Heroine, who was watching from the studio, was amazed at the check, saying, “Even if they were elementary school students, they’re still amazing!” How many teams got the answer right?
