Nakajima Kento approaches the essence of Indian movies! Preview of the final episode of “Nakajima Kento Movie Traveler” India edition and unreleased footage released

■ “It was truly the Indian world, where curry was everywhere.” (Nakajima Kento)

The fourth episode of WOWOW’s “Nakajima Kento Movie Traveler,” in which Nakajima Kento travels around the world with a focus on movies, will be broadcast from midnight on October 13th. Prior to this, advance distribution will also start on WOWOW On Demand from midnight on October 1st.

A preview of the fourth episode has been released on WOWOW’s official YouTube channel, and WOWOW On Demand is currently streaming unreleased footage from the third episode along with the preview of the fourth episode.

This program is a new type of movie information program with the theme of “movies x travel” that touches on the unique movie cultures that live in each country and talks to the filmmakers who represent each country to get to know “the current state of world movies”. The first destination is India, the world’s largest movie powerhouse. This is the fourth and final episode of the India series, and the setting continues to be Mumbai, the mecca of movies and the heart of Bollywood. It will be delivered from the set of the new movie “Tanvi The Great” (scheduled to be released in 2025).

This time, Nakajima interviewed India’s leading action director, Sunil Rodriguez. Rodriguez has directed powerful action scenes in films such as “Pathaan” (2023) and “Tiger: The Spy Who Trapped” (2023), which were also released in Japan, and has contributed greatly to the success of these films. You can experience the awesomeness of the action he creates in his new film “Jawaan” (2023), which is scheduled to be released in Japan in November. It is an action blockbuster that was a mega-hit, ranking first at the box office in India in 2023. How are the powerful action scenes that continue to evolve and excite the audience created? A special behind-the-scenes video of the film, which even Nakajima was amazed by, will also be shown.

Continuing from the last time, we also interviewed Keiko Nakahara, one of the top cinematographers in the Indian film industry. We were impressed by Nakahara’s thoughts on Indian films. We also enjoyed the source of energy for Indian film production staff, “film set meals.”

During the break, Nakajima headed to the dining area attached to the studio. In India, where many people are vegetarian for religious reasons, it is customary to satisfy hunger by eating snacks between main meals, and on set, there is a “snack break” that is not often heard of in Japan. At the buffet, where participants can help themselves to about 10 types of snacks, including standard and traditional Indian dishes, Nakajima feasts on “samosa” and “dosa,” and even asks the camera, “Do you want to eat?”

They will also visit an acting school in Mumbai founded by director Anupam Kher and interview aspiring Indian actors. At the end of the program, the next travel destination will be revealed.

■ Comment from Kento Nakajima
–What was the most memorable thing about your interview with India’s leading action director, Sunil Rodrigues?
I was initially nervous because of his overwhelming physique, but he was actually a wonderful person and showed me many action scenes he had supervised on his smartphone. Please pay attention to the largest guest in the history of interviews.

–What are your thoughts on the food on set?
As for the food on site, it was truly Indian, with curry everywhere you looked. I think it’s really interesting how the national character of the country comes out through the catering.

–What are your impressions from visiting the acting school?
At the acting school, I spoke to future actors. I could see that they were highly professional, had a vision for themselves and were studying hard every day in the huge Indian film market.
