The second single “Cassis” by Chim Chap, a four-piece mix band from Shiga, will be released exclusively for download on September 25th. Having won the grand prize at ESP BAND CONTEST 2023 and Juudai Hakusho 2024, Chim Chap has steadily built up a track record, and this summer they appeared at major festivals such as “SUMMER SONIC 2024 – Can you make it!? Summer Sonic!?-” and “Inazuma Rock Fest 2024,” raising the acclaim for their live shows. Their first single “Sequins,” released in August, has been picked up by Spotify playlists such as “New Music Wednesday” and “Early Noise,” attracting attention despite being a new artist.
The lyrics of “Cassis” are based on Jesse’s own experiences, and it is a love song that focuses on “time”. The feelings of love for someone are tossed about by the flow of time, and the bittersweetness of cassis is likened to the sadness and regret of wanting to go back to that time or wishing they had met later in life. The sound is a straight band sound at a mid-tempo, and the story of the lyrics is easy to hear and catches the ears with Jesse’s beautiful vocals. It is already the most popular song at live performances, and is a representative song that shows Chim Chap’s musicality.

Chim Chap is a four-piece fusion band from Shiga. They are based in the Kansai region and perform at live houses and on the streets. They won the grand prizes at the “ESP BAND CONTEST 2023” and “Judai Hakusho 2024”, and have also appeared at major festivals such as “SUMMER SONIC 2024 – Can we go!? Summer Sonic!? -” and “Inazuma Rock Festival 2024”. Each member has a different background, and they play a variety of songs, including rock, pop, jazz, and funk.
One of the charms of Chim Chap is the lyrics written by Jesse, who has Japanese and American roots, which are a mix of Japanese and English, and the unique style of playing lead guitar despite being a vocalist and guitarist.
