hikaru yamada and the librarians releases 2-song single “Constantinople”

hikaru yamada and the librarians will release their new single “Constantinople” on Wednesday, October 9th.

Librarians restarted in 2023 when Azusa Kitagawa joined the band. In addition to vocals, Kitagawa also plays the oboe, modular synth, and electric melodion, and is also responsible for all artwork.

This work includes two songs: “Constantinople,” a rough and cool 4/10 beat pop song that is an extension of the first album released in 2014, and “and gold ver.2.06,” a remake of an EP song to be released in 2023.

“and gold ver.2.06” features guest appearances by Itani Yoshishi, who has recently participated in the recordings of Wink Music Service (Sally Kubota and Takanami Keitaro), on drums, Murakami Tatsuro, a guitarist who graduated from the Choro Department of the Sao Paulo Tatuí Conservatory, on electric guitar, and Kurosawa Hayato of the band Kedama on trombone (!). The work was dubbed in real time, with spring reverb and early digital reverb delays running through a YAMAHA MQ802 mixer.

Currently, only the title track from the single is available on Bandcamp. In addition, a dance practice video by Momoko Shimada, an actor/choreographer affiliated with Roro, has also been released.

Librarians are currently also working on an album, which they plan to release on LA cassette label Cudighi Records at the end of 2024.
