Saucy Dog’s new song “Kusege” has been chosen as the theme song for ABC TV’s new drama “My Diary” which will air in October.

“My Diary,” starring Kiyohara Kaya, is a completely original human drama that nostalgically depicts the lives of five men and women who spent their university days together, with the protagonist, a first-year working adult, looking back on precious memories as a result of trivial daily events.

Saucy Dog wrote a new song, “Kusege,” specifically for this work. This is the first time that Saucy Dog will be in charge of the theme song for a golden prime time drama series on a national terrestrial network.

“Kusege” has a refreshing melody and melancholic vocals that are appropriate for a youth ensemble drama, making it a song that will touch the hearts of all those who have experienced their youth.

Q. Please tell us how you felt when you found out that your song was chosen as the theme song.
Saucy Dog: First of all, I was happy because it was the first theme song for a primetime drama series. I was also excited about what kind of song I should write. I didn’t graduate from college, so I was a little worried about not knowing what campus life was like, but when I read the script, I felt a sense of nostalgia and strangely, and there were many parts that overlapped with my own life, so I tried to write about my own memories in this song.

Q. What kind of feelings did you put into this song?
Saucy Dog: When I wrote this song, I used my memories from high school as a subject. I wanted to portray something like a memory that can be interpreted differently depending on the listener. In the process of creating the song, I carefully wrote the lyrics one by one, imagining what I felt at the time, what I feel now, and what I will feel in the future.
