The new song “Shadow” by the 4-piece rock band I Don’t Like Mondays. will be the opening song for the Kantele/Fuji TV drama “Monster” (starting Monday, October 14th at 10:00 p.m.) It was decided.

I Don’t Like Mondays., which celebrated its 10th anniversary this year, is a four-member rock band consisting of YU (Vo.), CHOJI (Gt.), KENJI (Bass.), and SHUKI (Dr.). Commonly known as “Idler”. In 2022, he will serve as the theme song for the TV anime “ONE PIECE” with “PAINT”, and from 2023, he will expand his activities overseas and hold a world tour. In 2024, he provided the song “LOVE TRIGGER” to Snow Man, gaining enthusiastic support both domestically and internationally. In addition, many celebrities such as actors, artists, and models attend their live performances, and they are steadily gaining attention.

The drama “Monster” is a unique legal entertainment in which actor Shuri plays a “monster” rookie lawyer who has no “obviousness” and is not influenced by “emotions” and faces court battles like a game.

This is the band’s first prime time drama tie-up song, and YU (Vo) said, “When I was asked about the drama, I was really excited.When it comes to tie-ups, there are often restrictions on creativity, but we can freely do it. We were able to produce it and we were able to put in all the things we wanted to do as a band.”

In addition, “Shadow” is a song written specifically for this drama, and regarding the points that were kept in mind when creating the song, SHUKI (Dr. , I wanted to create a song that would give momentum to the story.I tried to create a slightly dark but pop-like balance that would represent the mysterious yet cute character of the main character. “Shadow” is included in the 10th anniversary commemorative EP “FOCUS” which will be released on October 9th. “FOCUS” always incorporates global trends and fully incorporates their identity, which has been sublimated into their own style, and the unique musicality they have discovered over the past 10 years. The distribution EP “FOCUS” is a work that follows last year’s album, and while I was searching for a song to incorporate the lyrical style that I established over the past 10 years, I was able to achieve it with Shadow. I think I was able to successfully capture the unyielding strength, forward-moving tempo, and slightly nihilistic side of the song throughout the song. I wanted it to feel like the curtain opens with the guitar intro, so I’m really looking forward to seeing what it will look like when it overlaps with the video.
