Radio program “Asian Pops Selection” introducing Asian pop music begins broadcasting.

A new radio program “Asian Pops Selection” introducing Asian pop music will begin broadcasting on Marine FM from October 4th (Friday).

These days, musical exchanges between Japan and other Asian countries are becoming more and more popular. The creation of an Asian version of the Grammy Awards by the Agency for Cultural Affairs is also being considered in 2025 (reference link:Agency for Cultural Affairs considers creating “Asian version of Grammy Awards” in 2025… Award ceremony relocated to Kyoto).

In conjunction with this movement, this program has been launched on radio to support the popularity of Asian music. Minoru Hasegawa, executive advisor of Central Music, will serve as the program producer, and Megumi Nakamura, an Asian music writer who is making her first attempt at radio, will serve as the narrator. We look forward to seeing the content of this program, which will broadcast Asian pop music to Japan from Marine FM in Yokohama, Japan’s most cosmopolitan city.

[Comment from Megumi Nakamura]

It is a great honor to be able to participate in Yokohama Marine FM’s new initiative. I’ve been involved in disseminating Asian music for about six years now, and I can feel firsthand the trend in which Asian music is attracting attention. Communicating music from different languages and cultures in Japan is a challenge in itself, and the creators involved in the process are required to always be willing to take on challenges and change. This will be my first attempt at narration, but I hope that this program will help bring high-quality Asian pop music to more people.
