■The production behind-the-scenes stories keep coming!?Ren Nagase, Ryuta Bando, Kentaro Maeda and others from “Fureru.” ” The main cast talks about creating their roles
“Touch. ” is a “youth trilogy” set in Chichibu, and “We still don’t know the name of the flower we saw that day.” “My heart wants to scream.” An original work by Ryusetsu Nagai (Director), Mari Okada (Screenplay), and Masaga Tanaka (Character Design & Chief Animation Director), who moved many people with “The One Who Knows the Blueness of the Sky.” Full-length animated film. The story revolves around three childhood friends Aki, Ryo, and Yuta who live together in Tokyo, and a mysterious creature called “Fure” who has telepathic powers.
First, Director Nagai will tell you the story behind the production. As they talked about how the production was decided and why the stage was set in Takadanobaba, MC Teruyuki Tsuchida asked if he had ever had any trouble with Mari Okada, Masaga Tanaka, and other members of the “Cho Heiwa Busters”. When asked, Director Nagai confessed, “Of course we have some disputes,” and “We had several meetings due to disputes,” which caused an uproar in the studio.
Director Nagai said that they often had arguments over the direction of the story, but the studio was filled with laughter as he said, “But I think the fact that it was completed means that we made up properly.”
Next, the three main cast members talked about how they played their respective characters. Nagase, who played Aki Onoda, a boy who is slow to talk and has been quick to speak since he was young, said, “Aki was the character who changed most visibly, so I was able to express the changes in Aki’s feelings, such as the tone of voice and the volume of her voice. I was conscious of that,” he commented. When asked about the difference between a voice actor and an actor, he resolutely said, “It was definitely difficult.”
He added, “It was difficult to act out the reaction. “Wow!” There were a lot of reaction scenes for me, such as, “I think a reaction that’s properly translated into an anime is something only a voice actor can do.” He revealed that he struggled with the exclamations, but added, “It was difficult, but it was very rewarding. I was acting,” he said with a cheerful expression.
In addition, Bando, who played Ryo Sobue, who is an athletic type and is the older brother of the three, said, “I didn’t want to make him a symbolic character who is just energetic, athletic, and hot, so I wanted to have a sense of tolerance. , I acted carefully so that there was kindness in my voice.”
Maeda, who played Yuta Inohara, who has a lot of complexities and is a bit subservient at times, said, “I think Yuta-kun is a human character, and he’s also the most anime-like character, so I thought it would be nice if I could bring out an anime-like atmosphere as I played him. ”, they talked about the key points in preparing for each role.
Director Nagai praised the three of them, saying, “It was really good!” “As expected!” “They did it!” After receiving the director’s stamp of approval, the three members exclaimed in relief, “That’s great! It’s safe!” and others expressed joy, saying “We did it!” “Just on target!” and “Thank you!”
After that, we talked about the atmosphere at the dubbing site and each person’s thoughts on “Touch.” ” Four people talked about the noteworthy points. They talked about the drawings, music, direction, and other details, and delved into the appeal of the work. The end of the show was quickly approaching, and at the end, the four members sent a message to the viewers.
Director Nagai: “I hope that you can experience the extraordinary feeling that comes from adding the essence of “touch” to your ordinary daily life at the movie theater.”
Maeda: “In this day and age, we often use smartphones to communicate, but I think this movie teaches us the connections between people and what’s important, so I think a lot of people, regardless of age or gender, should watch it.” I would be happy if you could.”
Bando: “From the first time I read the script, this work made me realize once again how important things should be in our daily lives. I hope that this will be an opportunity to encourage others.”
Nagase: “It makes me realize that there are so many things that can’t be conveyed unless I say them, and rather than teaching me that, it’s a work that communicates with me.I feel like the “touch” touches my heart. It’s a work that will make you feel relaxed, and I think it’s a work that will give you an opportunity to look back at what’s around you and what’s important to you.”
They each talked about their thoughts on the work, and the program ended with great success.
■YOASOBI talks about the story behind the production of the theme song “Monotone”! “It was a struggle.”
Also included in the program is a special interview with YOASOBI, who wrote the theme song, for the first time. The feature-length animation tie-up is “Fure.” ” was their first time together, and they were very happy when they received the offer.
Regarding the theme song “Monotone”, when asked about the theme of the song, Ayase answered, “After reading the story, I thought about the theme of the movie in my own way, and how I felt about it in my life as a musician.” I wanted to link the feeling of being alone, so I created the theme of “loneliness” and expanded on it.”
When asked about the difficulties he faced in creating the piece, he answered, “I compared it to the “loneliness” I had inside myself, and while digging back into painful experiences and times when I was worried, I made it. It was a tough battle. To say it was tough, it was tough,” he said, adding, “My bitter experiences from the past might reach someone’s ears through the song, and maybe they’ll be moved by the movie. I think I’m really happy to think that I’ve been able to digest it.”
When asked about his impressions when he first heard the song, ikura said, “It had a taste that I hadn’t seen in previous YOASOBI songs, and when I saw the lyrics, it stayed with me for a long time. The theme of “loneliness” was… , I often think about this myself, so I felt some sympathy for him.”
However, he says he had a hard time recording because of the taste he had never had before, saying, “When I decided to express this with my singing voice, I went to the recording studio and recorded it without knowing the correct way to express it. “Actually, in YOASOBI, it’s a ballad. The rhythm of the song is the key, so it was a struggle to express it properly,” he says through trial and error. He revealed that he was proceeding with the recording.
