“Enchanting listeners with the magical melody of aura” by Clash

Irish alternative pop star Orla Gartland has released her long-awaited second album “Everybody Needs A Hero” on her label New Friends. “Little Chaos”, “The Hit”, “Mine” and “Kiss Ur Face Forever” were released in advance, as well as “Late To The Party” (feat. Declan), which is currently gaining popularity on BBC Radio 1 playlists. Contains 12 songs, including the anthemic new single “Backseat Driver,” co-written by McKenna and her close friend, songwriter Lauren Aquilina. The Dublin-born, London-based artist and producer develops a bold, uninhibited, and increasingly confident sound.

The songs on the album “Everybody Needs A Hero” follow the journey of establishing oneself and finding one’s true identity during a long-term relationship. Often conflicted and kept private, Gartland taps into these private and complex emotions and delves into the collective and personal compromises that are inevitable. Although the expressions are completely frank, there is humor in the tone of the story, and the story skillfully avoids being on the verge of being too realistic. “This music is outside the boundaries of what I’ve done in the past,” she says, calling it a bit of self-aggrandizement.

Garland was personally involved in every step of the production process to create the world of Everybody Needs A Hero. He is involved in all decisions, from co-production, to direction in mixing and mastering, to creative collaboration. Creative originality is nothing new these days, but if he had released it through a traditional record label rather than his indie label New Friends, he believes that his authority might not have been protected. she points out.

The album was produced at her London studio and Middle Farm Studios in Devon. Produced with her long-time collaborators Tom Stafford and Peter Miles. Inspired by both digital and analog approaches.
