Tokyo-based creative collective bala released their first EP “bala-llel world” today, April 19th (Friday).
This work includes the pop tune “LIKE THAT”, which is the ending song of ABEMA’s anime/pop culture information program “SHIBUYA ANIME BASE”, with producer Shinichi Osawa (MONDO GROSSO) and lyricist Kenmochi Hidefumi (Wednesday Campanella). The debut song “barla”, which was also produced by Hidefumi Kenmochi, “Tokyo Survivor”, which was also produced by Hidefumi Kenmochi, and “Heavenly”, which was produced by Bodysync, the unit consisting of Ryan Hemsworth and Giraffage, are already released songs that fuse club sounds and Japanese pop culture. Covers all released single songs. In addition, a total of 6 songs are included, including the new songs “Freedom” and “Kimi ga Found This Star” produced by LLLL. The result is a work that develops an original world view that is truly worthy of the title “Baralel World.”
bala aims to form a loose association of dynamic female artists/creators in the youth culture scene, and is developing activities that go beyond music. Many respected female artists and creators participated in the lyrics, including LIl’ Leise But Gold and Yuppa (HNC), and in the music videos and graphics, YUKARI, 0CM (Candice Mana Ohno), Hana Watanabe, and danbabeboo. The members themselves are in charge of CG graphics and MV editing, with KANO editing the EP jacket graphics, and MANON editing the MV for the lead song “LIKE THAT”, which was released at the same time as the EP release. The video is full of peaceful vibes and embodies the song’s theme of “friendship.”
Since the end of last year, he has been invited to events in Hanoi, Shanghai, Bangkok and other countries in Asia one after another, and has also received DJ performances and praise from up-and-coming British and American artists such as Mall Grab, Wavedash, Swami Sound, and Alice Longyu Gao. Bala attracts attention from outside. Starting with this work, solo performances by MANON and SUNNY ONLY 1 are also planned for 2024. Let’s look forward to the next report.
[Comment from Shinichi Osawa (MONDO GROSSO)]
Congratulations to bala, a creative collective that is not bound by existing formats, for releasing their first EP. I look forward to your continued success.
[Comment from Kenmochi Hidefumi (Wednesday Campanella)]
It’s been a year since their debut, and I’ve worked with bala in many places, and every time I meet them, I feel that their “individuality” is taking shape.
He is genuinely interested in expressing himself and stirs up the atmosphere at live performances. They seem to be having the most fun at every event (lol).
Cool, cute, cool, silly, everything. The most rich one, packed with their progress so far. Congratulations on the release of your 1st EP!
