shosha releases new song “balaenoptera” Alternative R&B that returns to his roots

shosha released their new single “balaenoptera” today, October 9th (Wednesday).

shosha is a project by singer Taku and beat maker/producer Rikuto Nagira, who is also known for his work with lo-key design. This work, which was released for four consecutive months following the single “ii” released in September, is a song that imagines a whale (=balaenoptera) swimming leisurely in the cold sea. It is an alternative R&B song with a decadent atmosphere, and the contrast between the gorgeous, smooth sound and the raw lyrics makes it a work that stands out.

[shosha comment]

As the title, “balaenoptera,” represents a whale, we started the work with the image of a person swimming leisurely in the cold ocean.
Contrary to the glittering and smooth sound, the lyrics have a suffocating and raw quality, and I aimed for a piece that, while beautiful, has an unstable and decadent atmosphere.
With each release, while challenging various songs that are not bound by genre, this work is an alternative R&B that returns to shosha’s origins.
