An interview article has arrived where Maaya Uchida and Yuma Uchida, two real siblings and super popular voice actors, talk about each other’s artist activities and the secret behind the production of their collaborative single “Carnival/BIG LOVE”!

Maaya Uchida and Yuma Uchida are real siblings and are both voice actors and artists who are active on the front lines. On September 28th and 29th, “YUMA UCHIDA LIVE “VS YUMA 001 – Maaya Uchida”” will be held at Pacifico Yokohama National Hall in Kanagawa, where Maaya Uchida appeared as a guest at Yuma Uchida’s live performance. The event attracted approximately 9,000 spectators over two days.

The collaboration single “Carnival/BIG LOVE” by these two is scheduled to be released on October 30th.
As the release date approaches, an interview has been released in which the two look back on their artist activities and the behind-the-scenes stories behind the creation of the collaborative single.

–What impressions do you two have about each other’s artist activities?

True respectYuuma’s music has a high degree of perfection, but I think it’s appealing that there seems to be a gap somewhere. I feel like he’s an artist full of euphoria, as he’s been extremely good at singing from the beginning, his dancing is outstanding, and he always seems to be having fun, but when he starts talking at live shows, he suddenly goes, “Oh? There are times when the atmosphere feels like,

male horseNo, no (laughs).

True respectAfter all, don’t you suddenly start saying something outrageous? When he came on the radio as a guest the other day, he greeted me by saying, “Hello, it’s really Yuma Uchida!” and I thought, “Huh, what do you mean?” (lol) It’s not often that the collective name for your fans is “Yuma Uchida.” However, I think the high quality of their performances and the gap in their comments makes me feel close and secure, and that’s why I want to support them. I think that is also part of his charm. It creates an atmosphere where everyone in the room becomes friends. I still don’t quite understand what it means when I say, “Everyone is Yuma Uchida” (lol).

male horseMaybe my sister didn’t really understand my original intentions (lol). My stance is that I don’t want people to think that their presence on stage is something special, but that it’s important to recognize that we’re all human beings. I want my activities to be an “opportunity” to enrich the lives of those who listen to my music. You are the one who makes your life happy, and we hope that our music and live performances will help you realize that. I feel that the choices I have made have led to a good future for me. I am called “Yuma Uchida” because I am a friend who shares the same feelings as other people who are also choosing the path they want to take.

True respectI see!

male horseBut at first it had a simpler meaning. During my first live MC, I said, “This is the first time you’ve heard me sing live, and it’s my first time to sing in front of you, so we’re both together. Then you’re all Yuuma Uchida!” What we talked about continued to spread. From there, he says, “I want to be positive. How about you all do the same?” “Everyone is Yuma Uchida.”

–What do you think about Maaya’s activities?

male horseIn other words, my sister is the opposite of me, and she is the type of person who can stand in the middle of a vortex of customers. That’s really amazing, and because you’re at the forefront of your message and power, you have the strength to involve everyone in it. My stance is like I’m standing next to everyone, so it’s a little different. What’s more, the customers who are in the whirlpool created by Nee-san seem to be really having fun, and because Nee-san also communicates with them and builds trust with them, you can think, “Don’t let this speed get you down, okay?” .

True respectIt’s true that I’m more of a “leader” type of person, and I approach my music activities with the mindset that I’m in a position to lead the way and pull everyone along. So I say, “I don’t have enough, so speak louder! Give me more!” and hundreds or thousands of people respond with even more power. However, there were moments when I thought, “How far do I have to go with this momentum?” (laughs) However, when I stand on stage, it comes naturally to me, so in the end that’s all I can do, and I think that’s essentially what I’m suited for. I feel like I’m living in momentum.

male horseBut I think it’s amazing that you can get involved. That can’t be done without power. If my sister is in the lead, I’m a little shy. It’s like, “I’ll stop you here, so go ahead!”

True respectAh, I see. It’s the difference between the warlords. Like Oda Nobunaga type and Tokugawa Ieyasu type. This has been said to male horses for a long time. He said, “My sister is like Nobunaga Oda.”

male horseYes (laughs). There was a time when I too felt that people were looking for the Oda Nobunaga type. However, as I’ve been active for several years, there was a part where I thought, “My stance is different from mine.” Of course, I’ll do my best to do what I can if it’s needed, but when I look at my sister, I think, “I’m not like that after all.”

True respectAhaha (lol). After all, we are different types. funny.

–Do you feel that there is a sense of “uniqueness” as a family in each other’s activities?

True respectYeah. After all, we are similar but different, aren’t we?

male horseI agree.

True respectI think the place I want to go to is probably close to where I want to go. I have a happy, warm and important family. I think we both have that kind of warm life plan, but we do things differently.

male horseWe both have a strong desire to make our dreams come true, and in doing so, we value people. However, I believe that the difference in form and method is due to the difference in the way they have lived their lives. Even though they both like people, I think the older sister is kinder.

True respectOh, really?

male horseI think so. There are also quite a few differences between the intuitive part and the mental part. Because my sister is a person who values her own sense values.

True respectIt’s important. Because I’m a passionate person. From my perspective, the stallion is very calm and acts as a brake for me, and if I have any concerns or concerns, he is the first person I go to, so he feels like he is much more intelligent than I am. I will.

male horseIsn’t it embarrassing to be the “brainy younger brother”? (lol).

True respectWell, I think it has a good game feel. Since he’s Nobunaga’s staff member, I wonder if the male horse is Mitsuhide Akechi?

male horseYou’ll be betrayed (lol).

True respectAhaha (lol). But I think that’s what’s amazing about it. I often get told, “Sister, calm down for once.” I was told, “You’re saying this for your sister’s sake, so you better think about it,” and from there, I started thinking about it myself and my head was pounding. But I can’t make my own decisions until I go through that process. Stallions think before they do it.

male horseThere are times when I tell my sister a little too strongly. Once she decides to herself, “This is it!”, she tries to move forward no matter if there are thorns in the path or if there are no paths. I get worried when I look at her from the side, but it’s the path she chose for herself, so there’s no reason to stop her. That’s why I strongly urge you to think about whether it’s really okay before making your choice.

True respectthank you.

male horseWell, I can say that because we are family. I’m sure your sister will accept that, so I’ll say it clearly.

True respectWe’ve never gotten into a fight.

–The collaboration single between the two of you, “Carnival/BIG LOVE,” includes two newly written new songs. Among them, “Carnival” became an uptempo number that incorporated elements of Latin pop and rap.

male horseSHOW and Dirty Orange, who created the song, are people who have been helping me since my first single “NEW WORLD”. This is my first time working with Maaya Uchida, but SHOW gathers a lot of information and then incorporates it into the lyrics and melody, so we filled it with elements that are unique to us and created a happy number with a festive feel. I did. I think this is a song that can create a whirlwind of enthusiasm with the audience.

True respectUntil this song was completed, I couldn’t imagine singing it with Yuma, but when it was decided that I would be singing this song, I was like, “Ah, that’s what it meant!” It was a challenging song for me, but by collaborating with him, I was able to see a world that I didn’t know about before, and I’m glad I came across it. The lyrics even include the names of each other’s fan clubs (“sunny day” and “beside”). I can feel the presence of all the fans who are with us, and I felt so much love.

–What are your impressions of each other’s songs and their compatibility?

True respectThe recordings were done separately, and I recorded it later, but the male horse’s song has a wide range, and when you jump in, it feels great, and it feels like you’re in the ocean that will accept anything, and you can really feel the size of it. Ta. Even though I was allowed to do whatever I wanted, I thought it was amazing that the songs matched so well. The relationship between the male horse and I is such that when I say, “Let’s do this!” he always listens and says, “Okay,” and it was interesting to feel that kind of communication in the song as well.

male horseWhen recording first, it is necessary to present the direction of expression, such as the nuances of the song, first. It’s like creating the base for a song. On top of that, I also kept in mind that “I wish my sister could sing easily.” My sister is the type of person who gets energized when she feels the passion of “I want to sing like this.” I think it would have been completely different if my voice hadn’t been included. The closer you get to completion, the more passion comes out.

True respectYeah, I think it was completely different.

male horseAlso, my sister’s singing has a core and energetic voice, so I was conscious of ways to blend in with that. I’ve always liked chorus. When I sing with someone, I often aim for a supportive singing approach. So when I decided to sing it with my sister this time, I thought it would be great if the song would bring out her power. When I actually listened to the completed version, it really showed off, so I was happy that it turned out to be good.

True respectI had fun singing it, thank you! The rap part was also a good interaction.

male horseIt felt speedy, like when two people are talking.

True respectI usually speak at that speed.

male horseNo, it would be dangerous to talk at that speed (lol).

–The other song, “BIG LOVE,” is a gospel-style song written by Masayoshi Kodama, who is well-known for Maaya’s works, composed by Masayoshi Oishi, and arranged by Yashikin. It’s a bright number.

True respectIt became a song that depicts being a family and great love. At first, the arrangement had a more grand atmosphere, but it felt like it was closer together, and we both smiled and said, “Yay!” I thought it had a good feel to it, and I was referring to a certain song I was listening to when I was living with Yuma.

male horseMaybe… that song?

True respectyes! Ahaha, amazing. Now that it’s finished, I feel like this song saved me. There are various times in life, and there are times when I feel like I’m having a hard time, but I thought that if I remembered this song at those times, I would be saved. I cried when I received this song, when I practiced it, and when I recorded it (lol). I feel so lucky that the stallion is my younger brother and I am my older sister.

male horseEmotional (lol).

True respectThis song is so emotional. When I listened to the finished song with my mother, she was crying too (lol). So for me, this song is a present from Kodama-san, Oishi-san, and Yashikin-san.

male horseI feel the same way, and this song made me realize that I’m glad I’m making music. This song feels like it transports us to that moment in time, and our memories suddenly come to mind. I think this song is filled with the warmth, security, and joy of being close as a family. In that sense, it’s a really wonderful song, and I think it’s a song that has a lot of meaning in us singing and delivering it, and it can also be a source of strength for people who are working hard together as a family.

True respectYeah yeah. I would be happy if people listen to it thinking about their families and the people who are by their side who support them.

–In reference to the title “BIG LOVE,” can I ask you about the moment when you both felt “BIG LOVE” for each other?

male horseThat being said, I’ve never seen my sister do anything backwards. There are times when I try to move backwards and move forward (lol), but I don’t often move forward with negative emotions.

True respectThat may indeed be the case. There are only about 15 negative days out of 365 days a year (lol).

male horseShe is a person who can act for positive thoughts, so when I see her like that, I want her to follow a happy path. After all, he is a person who has the power to make everyone happy, and I have been saved by that as well. This is just my opinion, but I think that families where women are smiling are more successful. That’s because I was at home and saw my sister, mother, and grandmother smiling brightly.

True respectThe Uchida family is completely dominated by women.

male horseI agree. My grandpa didn’t talk much, and my father was also quite accepting.

True respectIt’s not that he doesn’t have any will, but he’s kind and will accept anything. The father and the stallion are very similar. The way they move and smile are the same.

male horseEven the way we speak is similar (lol).

True respectThe “BIG LOVE” I feel for stallions is that they accept me, and this is something I’ve always felt throughout my life, so I don’t think it will ever change. I just thought that the male horse was definitely on my side. The stallion is a member of Team Shinrei. I have a lot of people in my life, including my parents, but the male horse is always by my side, and I feel like I can trust him and know that everything will be okay. I think that sense of security helped me form who I am, and I think that’s why I can talk to Yuma about anything.

–This time, the two of you have collaborated on a single and performed a concert together, but if you were to do something together again in the future, what would you like to do?

True respectWhat is it? Is that something you want to try?

male horseIs there anything you’re into lately?

True respectMaybe mountain climbing? But I haven’t been able to go there much lately. Personally, I would like to try skydiving or parasailing.

male horseParasailing huh? I want to be a paramotor.

True respectWhat is that, the sea?

male horseWell, to put it simply, if you attach something like a parachute and carry a motor on your back, you can fly.

True respectEh! Looks interesting. The sea is nice too. Things like diving.

male horseHuh? I guess your sister has never dived before.

True respectAlmost none.

male horseI see. I got my diving license because of Grand Blue.

True respectWow, that’s amazing. I want to go to the sea.

male horseThat’s right… But if what the two of you want to do in the future is “go to the beach,” you should just go on your own (lol).

True respectCertainly (laughs). I also want to try “living in the neighborhood.”

male horseIt also means, “You can live as you please” (lol). But it might be good. Buy a large piece of land somewhere and live there with about three families.

True respectoh yeah! Together with all my friends.

male horseHuh! Are you going to invite your friends too? It’s already a village (lol).

True respectBut I would like to try living nearby. I’d like to share the meal with someone saying, “I made Nikujaga.” (laughs) I admire a worldview like that of Sazae-san. They have a relationship in the neighborhood, and Mikawaya seems to be coming to take care of things. I want to be friends forever.

male horseCertainly.

Let’s look forward to the release of the collaboration single “Carnival/BIG LOVE” by Maaya Uchida and Yuma Uchida, which will be released on October 30th.
