Brazilian singer-songwriter Maria Luiza Jobim and electronic artist Mahmundi have released a collaborative song “Insensatez”. Creating a new breeze in the Brazilian bossa nova world.
Since 2019, María Luisa Jobim, the youngest daughter of the great Brazilian artist Antonio Carlos Jobim, has released an album inspired by the purest lineage of Brazilian popular music, called MPB (Musica Popular Bresileira). He released an EP and fully demonstrated the talent engraved in his DNA. He is currently working in collaboration with the multi-talented singer, songwriter, and music producer Maamundi, who is following a similar path to himself.
Mahmundi has released four albums that are influenced by electronic music and incorporate programming. He has shown the same direction as Maria Luisa in terms of evolving a new MPB. The two met very naturally, and their unique talents enhance each other.
The two chose to collaborate on one of the world’s most popular songs, “Insensatez,” written by their father Antonio Carlos Jobim (also known as Tom Jobim) and Vinicius de Morais. . Maria Luisa also featured her father’s songs on her 2019 album Casa Branca. In the 2023 masterpiece Azul, in which Lisa Ono also participated, she recorded “Samba do Soho” written by her brother Paulo Jobim and Honardo Bastos.

For her, the elegance traced through the Jobim family’s artistic lineage always comes naturally to all of her work. This collaboration will feature an elegant, modern interpretation of this masterpiece. The melody and harmony structure remains the same, but a little pop flavor is added. The two’s sweet singing voices come together to highlight the beauty of Tom’s melody and Vinicius’ poetry.
The arrangement is spot on and not only showcases the musicianship, but also conveys the song’s greatness to a younger generation who may not know the song but can relate to its modern language.
The song was produced and recorded by Mahmundi, Josefe and María Luisa Jobim at Arpoador Studio in São Paulo. Josefe played guitar and piano, while bass and programming were done with Mamundi and Adew. Maria Luisa and Mamundi also provide backing vocals. Josefe was the sound engineer, and Pedro Serapikos handled the mixing and mastering.
The timeless music of Tom Jobim and Vinicius de Morais is reborn with the rich talents of two young singers. The harmonies that Tom Jobim uniquely created, shared, and provided throughout his life provide the oxygen and lightness that our world needs more and more today. Maria Luisa Jobim and Mahmundi create a new breeze in the bossa nova world.
He co-starred with Lisa Ono on the song “Nada SouSou” from Maria Luisa Jobim’s previous album “Azul” released last year. The song was recorded after being impressed by the beautiful melody of “Nada Sosou.”
