Sakanaction, who had been on hiatus from live performances due to the poor health of vocalist Ichiro Yamaguchi, performed as a band for two days, April 20th (Sat.) and 21st (Sun.), at Makuhari Messe International Exhibition Center Hall 9-11 for the first time in about two years. A live show was held. This performance is the first performance of a nationwide tour
The live performance ended with loud cheers from the audience, which almost filled the venue. In the first half, “Kagero”, the audience’s voltage reached its peak with a performance that loudly proclaimed the “big comeback of Sakanaction”! The venue was engulfed in a whirlpool of joy with a performance full of elation that didn’t make you feel like you’d been away for two years. The audience sang “Identity”, the band’s signature song from the early days, with great enthusiasm! The venue welcomed the return of the rock band Sakanaction with loud cheers.
During “Native Dancer,” which was performed in the middle of the live performance, the venue changed into a club-like space. The venue shook violently with Sakanaction’s dance music.
In the second half of the live performance, they performed their representative songs such as “Music” and “Shin Takarajima” in quick succession. The 20,000 audience members were convinced of Sakanaction’s complete comeback, and the live performance became a completely celebratory space.
For live performances, we have introduced an original system called “SPEAKER+” that increases the placement of speakers and reduces acoustic blind spots. The overwhelming sense of scale and quality of the sound space is a huge hit on social media among attendees after the concert.
During the MC, Yamaguchi declares, “We will change without changing. This is the beginning.” There is also a scene where Ejima, the drummer, is overcome with emotion and bursts into tears, and Yamaguchi runs up to him and hugs him. What touched the hearts of the audience was that not only the audience but also all the band members had been looking forward to this day. At the end of the MC, Yamaguchi summoned all his might and called out, “I’m home!” and the packed audience cheered and shouted, “Welcome back.” It was an emotional night.
