■“Download Songs” debuted at number 1 on the “Billboard JAPAN” weekly ranking!
Kenshi Yonezu’s new song “Azalea” (reading: Azalea), written as the theme song for the Netflix series “Sayonara no Tsuzuki”, was ranked 17,861 downloads in the “Oricon Weekly Digital Single (Single Song) Ranking” dated December 2nd. Won 1st place on first appearance.
As a result, “Azalea” becomes Kenshi Yonezu’s 16th number one work in total, making him the single No. 1 single in history for the number of digital singles that have reached number one. Furthermore, on the November 27th “Billboard JAPAN” weekly ranking, “Download Songs” debuted at number 1.
In the Oricon Weekly Digital Single Ranking, the 15 works that Kenshi Yonezu took first place in were “Lemon,” “LOSER,” “Flamingo,” “Ghost of the Sea,” “Horse and Deer,” “Paprika,” and “Electric shock.” The songs include “Pale Blue,” “POP SONG,” “M87,” “KICK BACK,” “LADY,” “I Was Watching the Moon,” “Globe,” and “Goodbye, See You Someday!”
Additionally, on November 26th, the full-length MV for “Azalea”, which makes extensive use of scenes from the main story of “Sayonara no Tsuzuki”, was released, and many people have commented on the synergy with the drama.
Since the start of distribution on November 14th, “Sayonara no Tsuzuki” has dominated Netflix’s “Today’s Top 10 Series” in Japan, and has topped “Weekly Top 10 (TV)” (November 18th to 24th). In addition to being ranked number one in its second week, it is still on the daily top list.
It has achieved good results, ranking in the “Today’s Top 10 Series” in 12 countries and regions around the world, and ranking in the Netflix weekly global TOP 10 (non-English series) for two weeks in a row, and is attracting attention not only in Japan but also around the world.
