British punk folk rocker Frank Turner teams up with Japanese punk rock band Dizzy Sunfist for the first time. A new single “Do One (feat. ayapeta of Dizzy Sunfist)” featuring them is released today. On December 10th (Tuesday), he will hold his first solo headliner performance at Shibuya WWW did.
“Do One” is the lead single from Frank’s 10th album, “Undefeated,” released in May of this year. So far, they have released a co-star version with the German punk rock band Donots, and a co-star version with the Italian rock band Fast Animals And Slow Kids. In the newly released version with Dizzy Sunfist, Frank sings in Japanese with Dizzy Sunfist’s lead vocalist Ayapeta, who teaches him Japanese. This song, which is very popular with fans, has been reborn as an even more fun collaboration single.
Regarding the collaboration on “Do One,” Frank says:
“For this album, I decided to choose one song and sing it in another language. I decided to sing the lead single “Do One” first in German, then in Italian, and now in Japanese. It was a fun challenge for me, and it also shows my respect for my overseas fans. I was able to help with translations and have a very valuable collaboration opportunity.”
He explains that he met Dizzy Sunfist through a mutual friend.
“Dizzy I’m so honored to be collaborating with Aya from Sunfist. She’s a great singer in a great band, but she’s also a great teacher, helping me overcome the challenge of singing in Japanese, which I knew nothing about. He gave me She is very patient and fun to work with. She did a great job both coaching me and singing this track. I’m very excited as I plan my first visit to Japan.”
Dizzy Sunfist’s lead vocalist Ayapeta also made the following comment.
“I’m honored to be able to perform the Japanese version of such a wonderful song. Frank’s Japanese song is so cool that I can’t help but raise my fist! Also, during NOFX’s last show, I got to see it live for the first time, and I was able to play the acoustic guitar 1. I was moved by the way they performed live with such confidence. It was great to be able to perform with them on a cool song created by a cool person!”
Frank also sent the following message to his Japanese fans.
“I’ve been dreaming of performing in Japan for many years, and I’m so excited that it’s finally happening. To be honest, I have no idea what kind of experience awaits me, but… I look forward to learning new things and meeting new people.”
New single “Do One feat. Dizzy Sunfist” is released today on Xtra Mile Recordings. Frank Turner’s Japan performance will be held on December 10, 2024 (Tuesday) at WWW X in Shibuya, Tokyo.
Frank’s latest album, Undefeated, released on his own indie label, was written, produced and recorded by himself and his wife Jessica Guise at his home studio on Mersea Island, Essex. Produced with live band members Ben Lloyd (guitar), Tarrant Anderson (bass), Callum Green (drums), and Matt Nasir (piano). It reached number 3 on the UK Album Chart and number 1 on the Indie Chart.

Formed in 2009, a three-piece melodic punk band led by Ayapeta (vocals/guitar) from Osaka. In 2013, they released their 1st mini album “FIST BUMP” which was distributed nationwide for the first time.
