■This Kento
To be honest, I’m happy, but I used to do a cappella when I was a student, and at that time I had been doing covers of Disney songs for four years, so I never thought I would be able to participate in this way. So I’m really happy.

■Hoshidachi Suisei
I sang the song with a sense of excitement and anticipation while also feeling anxious and nervous. I think Moana is a strong girl with a core of her own, so I was conscious of giving her a relaxed singing voice with a core of her own. I myself thought, “What are these old customs? I’m going to do it because I want to try it now! ‘I always have that feeling in my activities, so I really empathize with Moana’s curious side.

■Takaya Kawasaki
I felt that this song contained grandeur, inspiration for myself and the future, and even the underlying love, fragility, and sadness. That’s why the original song and the singer’s own singing voice are the best. With this understanding in mind, I focused on the singing style and the way that only I could put my soul into it. I sang the song while paying close attention and respect to the fine nuances and the way the melody is expressed, while valuing the beautiful melody line.

■Ready
The original song features many expressions of instruments and tones that evoke images of the ocean, but I think the key will be to what extent the magnificent atmosphere of the original song can be recreated with a single piano performance. For this reason, I purposely do not use many piano-like melodies and phrases, and instead include accompaniment that sounds like chords like a percussion instrument.

■Sonoko Inoue
I sang this song hoping to reflect Moana’s struggles and positive strength in my singing voice. I think that Moana, who was chosen by the sea, has the strength to push forward without giving up, and I have been playing music since I was 11 years old, so I am confident that she is on the right track in her musical life. I felt like I got it.
