The theme song for the drama “Forest” (ABC TV/TV Asahi/Starting January 12, 2025) starring Manami Higa and Takanori Iwata (EXILE / J SOUL BROTHERS III) will be performed by J SOUL BROTHERS III. The newly written song “What Is Your Secret?” has been decided.

Along with this information disclosure, comments have also arrived from Higa, Iwata, who is also a member of the third generation J SOUL BROTHERS, and vocalist Ryuji Imaichi. Furthermore, a teaser video has been completed, and additional cast information has been released.

■A heart-touching medium ballad “What Is Your Secret?”
The theme song “What Is Your Secret?” was included as a surprise in the set list at the Tokyo Dome performance of J SOUL BROTHERS III’s live tour “ECHOES OF DUALITY” held on December 11th as a truly secret song. In front of about 50,000 people who gathered without knowing anything about it, the information was released and the first performance was performed.

The lyrics accompanying the medium-tempo track reflect the worldview of the drama and depict two people passing each other as if being toyed with fate. When the secret hidden in the “lies” of the person she loves is revealed, will the “love” she believed in up until then disappear? The melancholy lyrics, reminiscent of a drama, add a sad essence to the uneasiness and tension characteristic of suspense dramas.

Additionally, the latest main video featuring the theme song has been completed. The modest, peaceful and happy images of Kaede and Jun take a sudden turn when suspicious characters appear, giving the illusion of having wandered into the forest. What are the lies that each of the characters are telling, and what is the fate of these two people who love each other?

Special interviews with the cast and crank-in videos were also released on TVer.

■Aimi Higa

I love the way the song has elements of a ballad, but it’s not only cool, but also very sad. Even if you only hear it once, it will stick in your ears, and you will feel like Kaede again, making you want to cry. It’s a song that brings to mind the worldview of two people in love being tossed around by fate. I would like everyone to listen to it.

■Takanori Iwata
This is a song that took a lot of time to complete and was created through repeated discussions with the members, in line with the worldview of the drama. No matter where you cut out the song, I’m sure it will make the drama even more exciting. I’m really excited to see what the final result will be when combined with the video. I would be happy if everyone could enjoy the theme song as well as the drama.

■Ryuji Imaichi
This time, J SOUL BROTHERS III will be performing the theme song for the drama “Forest”. In order to expand the world view of the drama as much as possible, we carefully recorded it in order to reach the hearts of the viewers watching the screen.
As a viewer, I’m looking forward to watching the drama “Forest” and seeing what kind of Gan-chan I’ll see.

■Additional cast announcement! Latest character visuals also released
In addition to the previously reported cast, important characters who will still appear in this work and the notable cast members who will play them have been revealed all at once.

The first one is Suzuharu Kawashima, who plays the role of Chisato Inoue. She works as a helper at a certain facility and seems to have something to do with the “lie” that Jun (Takanori Iwata) told Kaede (Ami Higa). It will be interesting to see how Chichi, played by Kawashima, will be involved in the story.

The second actor is Junsei Ishiyama, who plays Shohei Mikura, a servant who lives in the Ikushima family. The young actor who won the Grand Prix at the 36th Junon Superboy Contest to be held in 2023 will take on the role of a mysterious and elusive servant who serves the Ikushima family, who are in a state of love and hate.

The third person is Yuu Machida, who plays weekly magazine reporter Yota Takagishi. Expectations are high for Machida’s dark reporting style as he is hired by a certain person and sniffs out the secrets of the Ikushima family.

The fourth person is Amami Morita, who plays Kazuhiko Mamiya, the Ikushima family’s tax accountant. Although he tries to please and flatter Suzuko, the president of Bran Forest, played by Miyuki Matsuda, there is actually a hidden side to him… Morita expresses a character that is palliative but hard to hate.

The fifth person is Fuseeri, who plays Suzuko’s younger sister, Takako Mizuhara. Takako, Makoto’s mother and Kaede’s aunt, played by First Summer Uika, is a shadowy presence who is the complete opposite of the charismatic company president Suzuko. Although he is treated unfairly by Suzuko, he never rebels and obeys, quietly watching over his daughter Makoto and niece Kaede from the shadows. So, what is the reason for Takako’s absolute obedience to Suzuko?

Pay attention to how the characters brought to life by a diverse cast, from young people to talented veterans, live mysteriously in the world of “love” and “lies.”
