The “Showa Masterpieces” series has been very popular every time it is broadcast. The super-large scale project “2024 Most Loved Showa Masterpieces of the Year 2024” will be broadcast on TV Asahi on two nights, December 18th and December 24th.
Based on a survey of 20,000 people nationwide, we have compiled the rankings of Showa era masterpieces by category. Results for all eight categories will be announced over two weeks.
The hosts will be the familiar duo of Hideki Takahashi and Yoko Oshita (TV Asahi announcers). The studio will be filled with luxurious guests who love Showa songs, including Kotaro Yoshida, Ammika, IKKO, Iyo Matsumoto, and Teruyuki Tsuchida.

The categories established by the program are “Male Artist Category,” “Eternal Diva Category,” “Female Idol Category,” “Actor/Actress Category,” “Exciting Karaoke Song Category,” “Winter Song Category That Touches Your Heart,” and “Powerful Songs That Touch Your Heart.” There are 8 categories in total: singing voice category, “big break with this song” category.
This time for the first week, we announced the rankings for the “Male Artist Category,” “Powerful Singing Voice Category,” and “This Song’s Big Break Category.” Full of nostalgic and valuable footage of big stars such as Kenji Sawada, Hideki Saijo, Yutaka Ozaki, and Shinji Tanimura.

The talk between ranking announcements was very lively, and there was also a scene where Iyo Matsumoto talked about her memories with Hideki Saijo. “Hideki-san is a really kind person and always greets me…He’s also good at jokes, and would sometimes embarrass me by saying things like, “I saw 〇〇〇 in Ginza the other day.” (laughs) ” reveals his interaction with Saijo back in the day. “This year’s Most Beloved Showa Era Masterpiece Grand Prix 2024” will introduce masterpieces selected by 20,000 people. On December 24th, it will be broadcast live. In addition to announcing the rankings for the remaining five categories, the “Grand Prix of this year’s most beloved Showa era masterpiece” will be decided by live voting by viewers from the eight songs that ranked first in each category.
