■“I moved the fastest in my life” (Fukase)
To commemorate the big hit of the movie “Cells at Work!”, a special video is being released that includes part of the main footage of the transcendent battle scene between Ken Sato and Fukase (SEKAI NO OWARI), valuable making-of footage, and an after-talk where the two look back on the filming. The ban has been lifted.
Red blood cells (Mei Nagano), white blood cells (Ken Sato) and other cells “work” day and night in the body of high school student Hiko Urushizaki (Mana Ashida). In addition to bacteria that aim to invade from outside the body, abnormal cells (Fukase), which pose the greatest threat to the cells, appear. He calls his white blood cells “big brother” and has the same pure white appearance, but his cheeks have eerie vein-like patterns, giving off a sinister aura.
Who are these cells that cry out in pain, “I wanted to be a cool white blood cell…!”? The “biggest battle in the history of the body” between cells begins.
In this video, there are scenes of[abnormal cells]that show off their high fighting power, such as screaming and charging at breakneck speed, dodging the attacks of white blood cells with great jumps, and turning to counterattack.
Fukase, who performed such extraordinary actions, looked back and said, “I moved the fastest in my life,” while Sato praised him, saying, “He moved so fast.” Sato’s enthusiasm for the action of this film is so extraordinary that he approached Takahito Ouchi of the Rurouni Kenshin series and worked with Ouchi as the action director to create a transcendent action movie. He says that his goal was to create an action that could only be achieved by cells, adding, “I didn’t think it would be possible to create an action game where ordinary humans fight each other, so we all came up with ideas and created something that could only be expressed inside the human body.” “We packed it into the action scenes,” he says.
The video also features a number of authentic action scenes that make full use of wires, and it can be seen that Sato and Fukase were doing their best to take on the action.
At the filming location, Sato, as his senior action director, said to him, “You can come more (with all your might),” and Fukase couldn’t help but ask, “Is it okay to come more!?” Fukase, who was confused at first, was moved by Sato’s enthusiasm, and in the end, he seemed to feel that he was able to do it. Among the highlights, Sato points out the scene where abnormal cells strangle white blood cells. “When I say, “Don’t hold back at all,” there’s about 10 seconds where I’m just being strangled, so I want you to pay close attention to that,” he says, showing confidence.
Regarding the character Abnormal Cell, Fukase, who played the role, also talked about how he prepared for the role, saying, “It was a role that was not inherently evil, but one that had changed due to his own fate, so I tried not to feel like I was playing a villain.” . Sato, who played the role of a white blood cell who confronts such abnormal cells head-on, talked about the conflict of feeling sympathy for them but also having to defeat them as part of the white blood cell’s job. In fact, I was really happy because the exchange of emotions was clearly shown and conveyed,” he commented with deep emotion. Expectations are high for the action scenes, which are unique to this work and have a deep drama, in which Sato was involved not only as a performer but also as a person in charge of the action himself.
You can’t take your eyes off not only the battle scene between Sato and Fukase, which has been paid attention to detail, but also the climactic battle over the abnormal cells and the activities of various cells. The movie “Cells at Work!” is currently being released as a huge hit.
