■“We wish for the peace of mind of everyone watching the Kohaku Uta Gassen and the peace of the world… Goodbye to sadness” (Koji Tamaki)
It has been decided that Koji Tamaki will be participating in the “75th NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen” as a special event.
In 2024, Koji Tamaki will celebrate the 10th anniversary of his life’s work, a national tour with an orchestra. NHK featured the final tour with the orchestra held at Expo Commemorative Park in Osaka in June, and Koji Tamaki’s powerful, soul-stirring performance on that program caused great excitement.
The message that Koji Tamaki wants to convey most right now is “love and peace.” Koji Tamaki, who looked at the turbulent world situation and reconsidered the meaning of singing, will deliver his thoughts to Japan and the world on New Year’s Eve 2024.
The song she sings is “Sayonara to Sadness,” which she performed at Kohaku in 1985, when she first competed as an Anzenjichi. It will be performed at Kouhaku for the first time in 39 years, accompanied by an orchestra.
■Koji Tamaki comment
