“Bad Summer” is a suspense entertainment that depicts the downfall of a timid public servant who lives an honest life and the fear that exists in the moment, and will be released nationwide on March 20, 2025.

■Yumi Kawai (as Manami Hayashino)
It was a shoot that required a lot of concentration to carefully check what was constantly changing within Manami. For some reason, as the title suggests, I have a memory of a suffocating dampness. The malice and attachment of the people I met was so vivid. When I saw the finished work, I felt that the texture was captured in a freshness due to the expressions of everyone acting and the wonderful work of each department. I’m looking forward to seeing how you all view it.

■Marika Ito (role of Yuko Miyata)
I’m Marika Ito, who played Yuko Miyata.
Her strong sense of justice was at first glance elusive, and she was a person far removed from herself.
It was sometimes confusing because I couldn’t see her expression, but perhaps Ariko herself was just staring at one point to the point where she could no longer recognize herself.
It was a summer where I was desperately trying to keep my eyes on what I wanted to protect, in a hopeless situation where greed intersected with each other.
My outward calmness, which analyzes that everyone has desires that they want to keep secret, was shaking my inner self, and it gave me a headache in a good way! I was happy to be able to participate in the Josei-gumi in such an unexpected way.

■Katsuya Maikuma (role of Yoji Takano)
Takano, the character I play, is a bad guy who does a lot of things from the beginning, but as the story progresses, he gradually becomes more interesting and cute as a mysterious character.
My co-stars and I worked together on a scene that was so grueling that I would say, “This is on the list of the most difficult to film,” and it turned out to be a beautifully chaotic scene.
Please look forward to this bad summer where justice and desire intertwine and descend into darkness.

■Yunai Yuna (Rika)
I felt that Rika was the person who influenced the fate of the characters in this work.
Each character has a variety of choices, and which way of life they will choose. Will I be guided? I think each person has a different way of looking at it and feeling it.
I couldn’t contain my excitement as I read the script and put myself in the role of Rika, who lives through a certain “bad summer.”
I was quite nervous working with director Hideo Shirosada, who was working with me for the first time, and the gorgeous cast, but there was a gap between the worldview of the work and the atmosphere on set, and it was a very calm scene.
It was a lot of fun to be able to create wonderful works with everyone. I would like many people to see it.

■Takehara Pistol (as Yoshio Yamada)
I’ve been a fan of Tamehito Somei’s work for a long time, and I read “Bad Natsu” a few years ago, and it was one of my favorite works. When I received the offer to appear in the movie, I had no idea I had such a good relationship. . It was a strange feeling and I was very happy.
I have never done anything that broke the law, and I never will. However, I personally remember Yamada’s lackadaisical, sloppy, unsteady, and clumsy personality, and I felt that he was a person I felt very close to, perhaps sadly. lol
“Kanemoto,” played by Mr. Kubota, and “Yamada,” played by me, are often subjected to violent bullying. In such a scene, we repeated the same play several times during setup and several times during camera tests, and it was interesting to see Mr. Kubota’s attack methods and weapons change each time. lol
In the end, when the weapon was decided to be a frying pan, the actual camera started rolling. lol
When I watch a movie for the first or second time, the tension from filming inevitably comes back and I end up fidgety. So to be honest, I still can’t watch it with a flat mind. In that sense, I would like to go to the theater several times over and over again, and enjoy the movie with a full heart.
However, the big brawl scene in the pouring rain at the end is somehow beautiful, despite the chaotic situation and the scene where the messy parts of human hearts are colliding with each other. I thought it was beautiful and was very impressed.
In this way, I was able to concentrate on watching the scenes that I didn’t participate in. lol
I was very honored and happy to be able to work with director Hideo Shirosada again following the TV drama “Black Jack”. I was very grateful for the detailed and easy-to-understand explanation of how things work and when to do what.

■Haruka Kinami (voice of Kasumi Furukawa)
This was my first time working with director Josada, and I got the impression that he is a very indifferent person. The camera work was very interesting.
Kasumi is a woman who has lived a very serious life, and because she is not good at relying on those around her, she chooses a sad ending. I thought it was an unfortunate role.
In the scene where I was splashed with water from a car, I had to cover my head more than I expected, and I was confused by the intensity of the spray. I would be happy if the video shows that in a more pitiful way.

■Masataka Kubota (role of Tatsuya Kanemoto)
What is the definition of evil and cruelty? Maybe it’s a monotonous fixed concept.
In that bad summer, I lived my life to the fullest, just like the ugly humans thrashing about. There was something beautiful about the way they polluted each other, as if they were sucking life blood, and it made me smile.
I hope you enjoy this movie to the fullest.
Even your happy smile may look evil if you look at it from a different angle.
