Universal Music LLC (Headquarters: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo, President and CEO: Takashi Fujikura / hereinafter referred to as Universal Music) will release AKB48’s 10th album “Nantatta AKB48” on December 25th. It will be released on Sunday (Wednesday).
The new AKB48 Theater will reopen in December. AKB48 has entered its 20th anniversary year with a new original performance written by AKB48’s general producer Yasushi Akimoto.AKB48 will be releasing their first ever cover album as their 10th album.
“Idle Time Machine” In this work based on the concept, AKB48 members cover idol songs from the Showa, Heisei, and Reiwa eras. There are 14 songs in total, organized in the order of original release, and the first limited edition Blu-ray includes behind-the-scenes making footage of the “AKB48 final performance before the theater renewal” held on September 1st, as well as the main part of the performance. Contains four songs: RESET,” “Theater Goddess,” “Witness,” and “Sakura no Petals.”
The singing members for the songs included are selected to match the worldview of each song. By combining arrangements that make the most of the charm of the original songs with the individuality of the members, we have created a cover album unique to AKB48 that will take you back in time to each era. The lead song, Kyoko Koizumi’s “Nantatta Idol” (released in 1985), was written by Yasushi Akimoto 39 years ago. It is a cover song that retains the live feel and lively power of the original song, but allows you to enjoy the singing voice of 13th generation student Aki Murayama, who serves as the center, and the group feel of AKB48.
Includes 7 songs from idol songs from the Showa era, including “Nantatta Idol”, Candies’ “Younger Boy”, Seiko Matsuda’s “Cherry Blossom”, and Akina Nakamori’s “DESIRE – Passion”. Yui Oguri has covered “Cherry Blossom” and Aki Murayama has covered “DESIRE -Jonetsu-” solo. From the idol songs of the Heisei era, Wink “Lonely Tropical Fish” and Morning Musume. Contains 5 songs including “LOVE Machine” and “Your Name is Kibo” by Nogizaka46, who is also the official rival of AKB48. AKB48’s new ace, 17th generation member Kisei Sato, nicknamed the “Hoshizuki Duo,” and 18th generation research student Aizuki Yagi will sing “Lonely Tropical Fish” as a duet. “LOVE Machine” is a song sung by all members of AKB48. From the idol songs of Reiwa, two songs are included: Shin Gakko no Leaders’ “Otona Blue” and Honey Works’ “Kawaite Gomen”. Momoka Ito, a 19th generation research student who just debuted in March of this year, is attempting a solo performance of “Cute Gomen.”
