WHISPER OUT LOUD, who will hold their first band-sponsored event “Keys In Purple” in February next year, will release new songs as digital singles for three consecutive months that evolve their expression as a band in preparation for the event. Distribution of “Save Me” has started as the first part!
Comments from Motokichi (Vo), who was in charge of songwriting and composition, are as follows.
■Production background
At first, I wanted to create a song that was simple and had a sense of speed. But just having a sense of speed is not enough. I wanted to focus on the development of the story.
Before the chorus, it’s emotional, sinking into a deep darkness, and then explodes with the chorus. I created the sound while imagining something like the main character in a manga, running as if driven by something.
■Intention behind the song and thoughts on the lyrics
I have always focused on life-sized lyrics, such as stories about my own experiences or the goals of the band, but from my next EP I would like to use lyrics that emphasize a world view.
“Save me” and “Sorry” were already decided at the demo stage, so we built the lyrics from there. At first, I thought it was just a simple wish for someone to save me from the depths of despair.
However, the fast-paced feel of the song gave me an image of “desperation,” so I chose the theme of the song to be about the feelings of begging for forgiveness from a former lover who was hurt by his fault and has gone far away.
The lyrics are a presumptuous wish for you to save me, that I’m no good without you.
The fast-paced sound reinforces the desperation of wanting your ex-lover back, no matter what the reason.
