rouri404, a breakout singer-songwriter and producer from Orlando, Florida, has announced the release of his new EP “crows”. The latest EP will be released on Friday, June 21st via Red Bull Records.

At the same time as this announcement, the new single “skin” was also released, and it is a work that symbolizes rouri404’s background with its alternative/emo sound. Following the intensity of the previously released lead single “shotgun carousel,” the group presents a raw sound driven by acoustic guitar riffs and sharp lyrics. The hyper-pop style that characterized his formative years is also expressed in bouncy, glitchy synthesizers.

rouri404 says: “With ‘skin,’ I wanted to touch on the feelings and thoughts of losing someone in your life, in a situation that is out of your control. It’s simple, but I’m trying to accept things and still get through life. I think there’s a beauty in finding a way, to step back and ride the wave instead of fighting all the time.”

Since emerging on SoundCloud, rouri404 has continually evolved his sound and expanded as an artist. He incorporates elements from various genres and cybercultures, proving that he is not tied to one style. He recently started a series of emo covers on TikTok, putting his own spin on pop-punk classics like The Story So Far’s “Clairvoyant.” His latest work shows his ability to turn self-reflection into art, with tracks like ‘spit’ and ‘numb’ highlighting his endless production.

Art and the internet are society’s last true balancers, places where the disadvantaged and the have-nots use pseudonyms and avatars to overcome their circumstances and become themselves. In fact, for most of his life, Orlando native Joseph (Joey) Cash found his place in the grids and waveforms of Logic and SoundCloud when traditional structures failed him. Ta. Dropping out of high school at the age of 16, his future was clouded as he struggled with drugs and self-doubt. But in early 2021, Joey realized he needed to go all in on self-transcendence, not half in it.

Beyond his early incarnation as a hyperpop artist, he embraced the name rouri404 and finally came into his own. Following the shocking “GORE” EP in 2022, they have further turned to guitar-driven rock and emo. His current output is a showcase of his talents as a lyricist, arranger, and executive producer.
