A live video of WONK’s “Essence” was released from the Tokyo performance of their “Shades of” release tour held at Spotify O-EAST in Shibuya, Tokyo on Sunday, January 12th.
The performance was held in an unusual configuration where a special center stage was set up at the venue, surrounded by the audience, allowing them to enjoy WONK’s live performance from 360 degrees. “Essence”, which was released this time, is a key song from the latest album “Shades of”. The performance lasted about 6 minutes, starting with leader Arata’s chorus, Ezaki’s solemn touch on the keyboard, Nagatsuka’s vocals as if speaking one word at a time, and Inoue’s double-necked bass and guitar solo using a vocoder. Each member’s unique characteristics are interwoven in layers, reflecting the current state of WONK’s music. A packed audience of listeners surrounded the stage, and the video conveyed the sense of unity in the venue.
