■“I hope this year is a year where I can start moving forward strongly” (SixTONES/Hokuto Matsumura)
SixTONES Hokuto Matsumura and Ken Mitsuishi will appear on “Meshidora” which will be broadcast on January 18th.
The first “Meshidora” in 2025. Guests SixTONES Hokuto Matsumura and Ken Mitsuishi were waiting at Sayama Park.
Matsumura, Mitsuishi, and Mitsushima have co-starred in movies, and Matsumura was also apparently a guest on “Meshidora” in early 2024. With Lake Tama in the background, the 2025 “Meshidora” begins with the title call directed by Mitsushima as usual.
The four of them immediately get into the car and head for the first shop. The topic is Mitsuishi’s memories of his first time co-starring with Mitsushima in a drama. “I was constantly watching (other actors’) performances on the monitor, arms crossed,” said Mitsuishi, speaking about Mitsushima’s state at the time. Looking back on those days, Mitsushima says, “I was really curious about what kind of atmosphere he was working in,” and he stayed close to the director, trying to understand the work the whole time.
When Kanechika heard about Mitsushima’s sincere attitude toward acting when he was younger, his response was, “So you had a lot of free time?” To this, Matsumura was surprised, saying, “You gave it a shot now.”
The first shop is “Chakawasemi”, which is located right next to Hakkokuyama Ryokuchi. Before getting permission to take photos, we had a quick chat before heading into the store. After ordering Kokubunji tea and Zenzai, the topic of conversation was the gap between the image and reality.
Mitsushima says that Matsumura and Mitsuishi are “the kings of the gap.” Kanechika’s image of Matsumura is as a “cheerful and playful person,” he says with a laugh.
While enjoying the tea and sweets that were brought to us, the topic of conversation was about how Mitsuishi made his debut. Mitsuishi passed a movie audition when he was 16 years old and came to Tokyo from Kyushu. At that time, he saw the staff working hard on set and thought, “There are adults like this, and I want to be in a world like this,” and he began his career as an actor.
Matsumura started her career in the entertainment industry at the age of 13, but says, “At first I entered the industry just to become an idol, so I never thought I would do as many things as I do now.” Matsumura says that he “really respects Hiroshi Oizumi.” Oizumi advised him, “You should quickly become like Ryosuke Yamada,” and further told him, “You lack self-awareness. You are the eldest son of the Oizumi family, and in the future you will inherit the name Yo Oizumi.” It seems that it is.
Next, the four of them came to Troll, a general store with a somewhat mysterious atmosphere. Everyone draws lots and wins octopus balls and keros, and we go back to our childhood and have a blast.
While listening to Mitsuishi’s ups and downs as an actor, we next arrived at Chinese Restaurant Issui, which has been in business for 39 years and is loved by locals. While waiting for their food, Mitsushima suddenly suggests that they play an “adult riddle.” As I was showing them how any game can be fun when played by talented people, the food I ordered was brought to them.
Once again, the four of them enjoyed the many exquisite dishes and made them more interesting one after another. We decided to play a game to decide who would pay for this trip. This time’s game is the card game “Sonic Hanten” that I picked up at the general store mentioned earlier. “Sun!” “Tan!” “Suntan?” “Christmas?” What kind of game is “Sonic Hotel” anyway? And who will lose the heated game and pay today’s bill?
On the way to the next store, the four of them talk about their “30s”. Mitsuishi, who turned 30 soon after getting married, says, “I didn’t have much work,” and Mitsushima says that becoming independent at age 30 was a major turning point. When asked, “What about Kanechi?”, Kanechika replied, “Before I knew it, I was (30 years old).” “I didn’t have time to sleep because I was working every day, so I didn’t even remember my birthday, and I just wanted to sleep all the time,” she says, and then “I was about 31 years old.”
“Honestly, there are times when no one remembers a moment from a variety show, so when you think about it, it makes you wonder why you’re fooling around in front of the camera,” he says of the hardships he felt at the time.
The last restaurant is “CONTACT GARDEN” where you can enjoy barbecue on the stylish terrace. When asked about his aspirations for 2025, Matsumura said, “I hope to make this year a year in which I can move forward carefully and strongly without neglecting each one.” Mitsuishi was shivering from the extreme cold of the terrace seat, so this time’s “Meshidora” ended here.
