NHK’s music program “The Covers”. The contents of the February broadcast have been announced.

The guest will be Yuki Saito, who will celebrate his 40th anniversary as a singer in 2025. In 1985, she made her debut as a singer with the song “Sotsutsu” by Takashi Matsumoto and Kyohei Tsutsumi. Since then, they have released numerous hit songs such as “Hatsukoi”, “Passion”, “Hello Sadness”, and “Yume no Naka e” by collaborating with hit makers who colored the era.

In 1986, she played the heroine of the NHK drama series “Hanekoma,” and was also selected as the host of “NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen.” During the golden age of the 1980s, when many female idols were born, she gained a unique presence as an actor and singer.

This time, Yuki Saito will cover “famous songs by female idols of the 80s.” Super idol Seiko Matsuda’s hit song “The Wind Rises,” Hiroko Yakushimaru, who has a tremendous presence as an actor and singer, has a famous song “Woman from ‘The Tragedy of W”, and her biggest hit, Yosui Inoue. They also performed the cover song “Yume no Naka e”.

The arrangement was by musician Satoshi Takebe, who has arranged many of Yuki Saito’s works, including his debut song “Sotsutsu”. It will be delivered in a special version only for this day.

We trace the trajectory of Yuki Saito’s 40-year debut as a singer, along with treasured footage from the time of his debut from the NHK Archives.
