The 12 albums nominated for this year’s music awards, “APPLE VINEGAR -Music Award-” have been announced.
Founded by Goto Masafumi (ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION), this award is the award for albums released by up-and-coming musicians. Based on the Akutagawa Prize in the literary world, we hope to be able to support young musicians by creating a system in which musicians not just their debut albums but also the works they released at the beginning of their careers, and by presenting prizes to support future productions. It started in 2018 with a passion. It also conveys the desire to help listeners discover new music.

This year, Goto has selected 12 works from the album released last year, and the grand prize will be decided after the selection session in March. This year’s selection committee members will be announced at a later date.

To begin the activities, Music is a stay-at-home music production studio in Fujieda City, Shizuoka Prefecture.
In preparation for the construction of “Inn Fujieda” (scheduled to be completed around autumn this year), donations are being carried out through crowdfunding and ASIAN KUNG-FU GENERATION tours. We would like to pay attention to future trends as well.

This is the 8th Apple Vinegar Award.
First of all, thank you for your support with crowdfunding last year.
Support has been gathered that far exceeded the target amount, and by running a cheap studio, the original purpose of this music award, we have been able to provide more concrete support for Musijan. I am truly pleased that it is not just my own wish, but that it is not just my personal wish, but also of those who are participating, to improve the environment in music production.
In addition, starting this year, the award management has been changed to an NPO called APPLE VINEGAR -Music Support. The Music Awards, which began as a private company, have now also needed to consider its public nature.
Personally, I would like to move away from the style of deciding on a grand prize from next year onwards, and transform it into an award that celebrates the appeal and achievements of each of the nominated works, supporting future activities. We would also like to hear your thoughts on everyone who enjoys this award.
We hope that not only will we be involved in music, but we will also be able to help a society where we can rejoice in the various ingenuity and ingenuity of various people across generations and support each other, and support each other.
And we have selected 12 amazing works this year as well.
No matter how many times I try, it’s a bothering me, and I can’t escape a certain kind of guilt.
I hope that in many places the appeal of not only each work, but the numerous works created in 2024 will be discussed.
