Chim Chap, a four-piece mix band from Shiga, will release their fifth and exclusive single, “End of the Night,” on March 12th. This is Chim Chap’s first ballad song, and is a slightly more mature song that reminds me of an urban night, like a scene from a trendy 90s drama. Starting with the intro of a melancholy guitar riff, Jesse’s sexy singing voice accentuates the song’s mood. The lyrics express the conflict and self-restraint of living according to the character created by others, as well as the loneliness that can’t be seen when you become alone and not be able to show that. The “Lay me, Lay you by my side Lay you, Lay me by your side” that can be heard repeatedly here and there is an interpretation of “cling with (the real me) and clinging to you,” but it is an impressive part that gives you a sense of strength in your feelings when you refrain. The song concludes with the song’s climax, with guitarist Jesse playing a long “crying” guitar solo. The highlight of this song is also a part that is attracting attention from fans, as it is a different arrangement each time. This will be the first ballad to show Chim Chap’s new potential.
The music video was also released at the same time as the release. The director is Yoshio Nakaiso, who has continued to take photos of CHAI and NEE. The sight of Jesse as he continues to walk aimlessly on the night of Tokyo, aimlessly alone, and the sight of a man carrying a sense of loneliness and alienation gives the impression of the lyrics. The video is dark and lonely, but I’m sure there are quite a few young people living in modern society who can relate to this song. This is a song that you should enjoy in depth by combining it with the lyrics, melody and video.
The character of “self” lurks in my head.
A character that only me can see and touches me.
But for some reason, the eyes of those around me show a different character.
This is how I start to worry about what others think and live my life playing various characters.
It’s as if you’re living another person’s life.
Acting makes you weak, and playing you lose sight of yourself.
And at the end of the night, I return to the character “I”.
Jesse
