Singer/DJ SUNNY ONLY 1 attracted attention from keen music lovers last year with the release of singles such as “Dance like a monkey feat. Mori” in collaboration with Dongurizu no Mori, as well as his work as a member of the creative collective bala. He released his first EP, “Electric Drive”, on Friday, August 23rd.
For this album, Noah Ings, a cutting-edge producer from London, was brought in to produce, presenting a new mode of electro-retrospection, with a more underground, oriental charm that shows the musicality and worldview of an artist from Tokyo.
The main part of the album opens with the first single from the album, the mysterious electronic dance tune “Utopia,” which references the nursery rhyme “Kagome Kagome.” The album then features a wide variety of sounds, including the old school hip house “BOUNCE” featuring rapper YINYO, the emotional electronic rock tune “100%” featuring DALU from TOKYO YOUNG VISION, the provocative, dirty and intense floor banger techno “Natural born killer,” the melancholic bedroom drum and bass pop lead track “Roller Coaster Girl,” the cyberpunk oriental-feeling R&B tune “Shogyo Mujou,” the beautiful electronic soul tune “Energy,” and the euphoric UKG classic “Take Me With You.”
The eight tracks combine a groovy electro sound that reflects her talents as a DJ active in Tokyo’s cutting-edge club music scene with lyrics and performances that expose her unstable and fluctuating personal side.

Born in Osaka in 1998. Model/Singer/DJ. While working as a model for apparel brands and advertisements, she moved to London alone at the age of 19. Inspired by music, she returned to Tokyo at the age of 20.
Facing the reality of the death of her only parent, her mother, she felt a change in her way of thinking about life, and with the desire to overcome this and spread love and life in a more positive way, she began her singing career as SUNNY ONLY 1. She is currently also active as part of the artist and creative collective bala.
