SWEET STEADY, an idol group belonging to KAWAII LAB., held a solo live event “SWEET STEADY Solo Party! Vol.1” at Spotify O-WEST on Monday, August 26th. They debuted their 8th digital single “Shinsekai Crescendo”.
SWEET STEADY is a group born from “KAWAII LAB.”, a project by Asobisystem that aims to spread idol culture to the world. They debuted in March this year and, despite only having been active for three months, successfully held a solo concert at EX THEATER ROPPONGI. The group is made up of seven members: Okuda Ayumi, Otoi Yui, Kurita Natsuka, Shiokawa Riyo, Shoji Nagisa, Shiraishi Mayumi, and Yamauchi Sakina. The group’s name expresses their hope that the girls, who are like a bouquet of “cute (SWEET)”, will grow “steadily (STEADY)” one step at a time as they gain various experiences.
The event was expected to feature a new song, and many fans gathered at the venue in anticipation. As the venue was filled with the heat of fans’ anticipation, the first song they performed was “Pajama Party!”, which is scheduled to be released as their first single CD in December of this year. As photography was allowed, many fans followed the girls as they danced gracefully through their smartphone cameras. They then performed “Call me, Tell me” and “Sweet Cafe,” cute and pop songs typical of SWEET STEADY, and the live show began full of energy.
In the next part, they performed “Michishirube” and “Wagamama”, which were impressive with their cool performances, in stark contrast to the pop songs from before. They showed a strong side to them that is not just cute, and then they raised the excitement in the venue with SWEET STEADY’s summer song “Onegai Pentas”, which really livened up this summer’s idol festival.
During the MC, a special corner was held that can only be found at a solo event. Titled “Who’s the cunning one? SWEET Championship,” all members performed heart-throbbing lines based on a theme, competing to see who was the most cunning and cute. The members who spoke sweeter words than the fans blushed in the fierce battle, but it was Okuda Ayumi who emerged victorious. Fans throughout the venue were enchanted by the tsundere heart-throbbing lines delivered by Okuda, who has a cool impression.
Returning to the live performance, they performed “Hajimari no Aiuzu” and “Nante ne!” one after the other, accompanied by Shiraishi’s call. From their debut to today, the seven members have experienced many live shows, sometimes worrying, sometimes happy, and gained a variety of experiences. They proved their growth to the fans with a confident and smiling performance.
Then, the new song that many fans had been waiting for was performed for the first time, and Okuda announced that the new song was “Shinsekai Crescendo”. This song is a rewrite of the song of the same name by IDOLATER, an idol group from KAWAII LAB., which Okuda belonged to before joining SWEET STEADY, and the seven members and composer Toshiaki Wada co-wrote the new lyrics. The lyrics are filled with courage, strength, and bonds with friends, such as “No matter how many times my heart wavers, you have colored my monochrome world” and “It’s okay, let’s forge ahead on the path we chose”. Some fans in the audience were moved to tears by SWEET STEADY’s “declaration of determination” to continue chasing their dreams with their friends and all their fans no matter what happens, and there was a huge round of applause after the performance.
Showing their determination to their fans, the girls performed “Heart Magic” and then “Pajama Party!”, the first song they had performed, again at the end, bringing their solo event to a close under the watchful eye of many fans.
No one knows what the future holds for them. However, even if a big wall stands in front of them, they will surely overcome it and blossom into even bigger and more beautiful flowers than they are now. The fans at the venue must have felt that expectation.
The 8th digital single “Shinsekai Crescendo” is available on all music distribution services from Tuesday, August 27th. The artwork features a handwritten title by Okuda himself. Also, at 8pm on the same day, the lyric video for “Shinsekai Crescendo,” which follows SWEET STEADY’s journey from their debut to now, will be released on the official KAWAII LAB. YouTube channel.
