Shinichiro Ogata, who served as the art director of the 2020 Ryuichi Sakamoto Art Box Project, has created a new scent for Ryuichi Sakamoto from the “YOKA” series of KAORI, which reinterprets oriental fragrance culture into modern times. A sachet and a scent called “SAKAMOTO” will be included. In August 2022, Ryuichi Sakamoto visited Shoyeido in Kyoto with Ogata and created the “Ryuichi Sakamoto Fragrance” by selecting the ingredients. I actually listened to the scent between recordings to calm my mood, and even after recording, I always kept it by my side even in my private life. The instruction manual for “Smell Incense” features a handwritten musical score from when “for Jóhann” was composed.

The collaboration between the two old friends, who have shared musical activities and inspired each other, was revived at the end of 2010. “Uta” is pursued in the ultimate minimalist space where only two people stand on stage, making us once again feel the power of music and the beauty of singing.
This work is part of the national tour “A PROJECT OF TAEKO ONUKI & RYUICHI SAKAMOTO UTAU TOUR 2010,” which was accompanied by Taeko Onuki & Ryuichi Sakamoto’s collaboration album “UTAU.” Recorded from a concert held at International Forum Hall C in Tokyo on December 11, 2010. In addition, some of the performances from the previous day are included. This work, named “UTAU” because Onuki spins and sings the words to Sakamoto’s songs, is full of the strange collaborations that can only be created by allies, and it is a content that will move the hearts of not only their fans, but all listeners.
