m-flo, who celebrated their 25th anniversary since their debut this year, performed at “Local Green Festival’24” held at Yokohama Red Brick Warehouse on November 17th (Sunday).
This event is based on the concept of “Life with Green,” and you can enjoy live performances and markets while being surrounded by greenery and good music. m-flo appeared as the closing artist of SOL STAGE and excited the venue along with other gorgeous “loves artists” such as Crystal Kay, YOSHIKA, and chelmico.
m-flo recently held LISA’s live event “WONDERLIVET 2024” in South Korea, where LISA returned to live for the first time since 2019. This day was their first live performance in Japan in five years, and when VERBAL, ☆Taku, and LISA appeared on stage, there was a particularly loud cheer.
“LISA!” “Welcome back!”
Amid the warm cheers, the audience reacted even more excited when they heard the intro of the first song, “come again.” LISA’s singing voice is both powerful and sweet, and while quoting the lyrics, she cheerfully calls out, “You don’t want to go home!” The breathing feeling of VERBAL and LISA, the mood of the stage created by the three of them. It’s the beginning of a very happy time. After singing, VERBAL and LISA gently gave a high five and hugged. During the next performance of “prism,” LISA’s soft expression as she happily watched VERBAL’s rapping was impressive. At “gET oN!”, ☆Taku and VERBAL will be at the front of the stage, while LISA will be exciting the audience from the DJ booth. Familiar songs such as “So Mama I’d Love Catch Up?” and “Lotta love” were performed one after another, and the first half made us realize once again the greatness of m-flo’s 25-year career and the penetrating power of m-flo’s songs. Ta.
“It’s going to be exciting until the end! I’m happy to be back in Yokohama for the first time in a while. If you know me, please sing along!” (LISA)
“Been so long,” “How you like me now?” and “No Question.” The audience never stopped singing, and LISA was enjoying the stage, waving and blowing kisses. It was brought up during the MC in the second half, but Yokohama is the birthplace of ☆Taku, and VERBAL said, “We recorded songs like “been so long” and “How you like me Now?” in Yokohama, so it’s very emotional.” Places that are connected to m-flo. Although this was a live performance at an event, the atmosphere that felt like home may have been due to that kind of feeling.
In the next part, the “loves artists” who have collaborated with us will appear one after another.
First, “RUN AWAYS” was performed by chelmico, a two-person female rap group consisting of Rachel and Mamiko (Mamiko Suzuki). The rap like a machine gun explodes, giving off the individuality of the four people. Although it was released in 2020, it was performed live for the first time on this stage.
Next up was YOSHIKA. “Let Go” was released exactly 20 years ago on November 17th and became a long hit, and this time they will sing it carefully with an acoustic version played by a single acoustic guitar. Some people at the venue were seen crying at the sound of her sad and beautiful singing voice.
The last “loves artist” introduced was Crystal Kay. “Everyone’s love (from the audience) reached the back of the stage! It’s the best!” He appeared on stage in high spirits, adding, “In such a perfect situation, my favorite m-flo! An artist who has celebrated 25 years with me… I’m really happy to be able to stand on stage with you as friends.” Then, ☆Taku said, “Speaking of the 25th anniversary, you’re going to have a live show in Yokohama next time, right? I’m definitely going to see it,” and the conversation started to move in an unexpected direction. “I don’t want you to just come to see it, I want you to come out (lol).” The members readily accepted Crystal Kay’s direct offer. It was suddenly announced that m-flo will be appearing at the live show “CK Nigo~25TH ANNIVERSARY” to be held at KT Zepp Yokohama on December 21st. After that, they performed “REEEWIND!” and “I LIKE IT,” which were the start of m-flo’s “loves” series. The live ended with a talk that conveyed their close friendship and a gorgeous and professional performance.
After the performance, VERBAL made the following comment on behalf of m-flo.
“It was very emotional to be able to perform in Yokohama for the first time in a long time in the perfect weather today!Yokohama is also the sacred place of m-flo’s debut work, so I enjoyed the stage with the feeling of “I’m back!” I did it! thank you very much! ”
It’s been a while since we last had a live show in Yokohama, where we have a connection, a surprise appearance by a “loves artist”, and the most exciting thing was the return of LISA. We are looking forward to seeing what happens next in m-flo’s 25th anniversary year since their debut.
