Kikazaru, winner of Katsuhiko Sugiyama’s song offering event, releases “Sleep Demon Summoning”

AWA, a subscription-based music distribution service, held an event last September to feature music by Katsuhiko Sugiyama, a music producer who has provided songs to many famous artists, including Nogizaka 46, King & Prince, Airi Suzuki, and Leo Ieiri, and who has won the Japan Record Award for Best Composer and the Japan Record Award for Best Work. This time, the winner, Kikazaru, released “Sleeping Summon.”

The newly released “Sleeping Summon” is a song that makes use of Kikazaru’s high-pitched voice, which rivals any vocaloid, and is a song that can wash away the negative emotions of the day, depicting a good form of codependency with listeners that is typical of a streamer. After meeting with the winner, Kikazaru, she asked me to create a “song that puts you to sleep,” so I made it into a song. It’s not a boring song that puts you to sleep, but a song that washes away the negative emotions of the day. It depicts a positive form of codependency with listeners, as befits a streamer. I wanted a track that would make the most of her high tones, which rival any vocaloid, so I asked Onoue Haru to arrange it, and the song was completed. It’s become a song that I really love. I look forward to seeing Kikazaru’s future success!

Born on January 19, 1982 in Iruma, Saitama. Graduated from Waseda University. Lyricist, composer and arranger. Scouted by Rats & Star’s Sato Yoshio, he became an exclusive composer for Sony Music Publishing. In 2008, he made his debut as a writer with Arashi’s “Fuyu wo Dakishimete”. In 2014, he made his major debut as “USAGI”. In 2016, he became independent and founded Co-write Inc. He won the 59th Japan Record Award for Composer of the Year for Leo Ieiri’s “Zutto, Futari de”. He won the 63rd Japan Record Award for Outstanding Work for Nogizaka 46’s “Gomen ne Fingers crossed”.
