“J-WAVE SELECTION RADIO SAKAMOTO extension “Long Phone”” Part 3 will be broadcast from 10:00 pm on December 29th!

December 29th (Sunday) 22:00-22:54, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yuji Takahashi’s “Long Phone Call” will be released as an extension of the program “RADIO SAKAMOTO” in which Ryuichi Sakamoto served as a navigator on J-WAVE. We will be broadcasting the third installment of the special program “J-WAVE SELECTION RADIO SAKAMOTO extension “Long Phone”, which pays tribute to “Long Phone”.

“RADIO SAKAMOTO” was a program that Ryuichi Sakamoto served as the navigator from 2003 to 2023, and although the broadcast date changed several times during the broadcast period, it was broadcast on J-WAVE once every two months. During Ryuichi Sakamoto’s illness, performers with close ties to Sakamoto acted in his place. “Long Phone” is a book containing “long phone calls” by two rare musicians, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Yuji Takahashi, and was published in 1984 by a publishing company run by Ryuichi Sakamoto. As the name suggests, this book is a collection of long phone calls between two people, and it has influenced many artists, including the method of “long phone calls”, and has come to be called a fantastic masterpiece.

On August 30th, “Long Phone”, which had been out of print for a long time, was republished by “Sakamoto Tosho”, a book concept that continues the wishes of Ryuichi Sakamoto.

This broadcast is the third installment of “J-WAVE SELECTION RADIO SAKAMOTO extension “Long Phone”, which was broadcast on J-WAVE in July and September as a tribute to this book “Long Phone”.

[Program content]

Despite the hustle and bustle of these chaotic times, we would like to bring you an ordinary and special “long phone call” between two people. This time, we will be delivering a “long phone call” between creative director Sotaro Kozo and actor Yukino Kishii.

Mr. Koto is in charge of planning “Ryuichi Sakamoto: What I Don’t Know” for the “Ryuichi Sakamoto | Seeing Sound, Listening to Time” exhibition currently being held at the Museum of Contemporary Art, Tokyo.

The person he wanted to make a long phone call with was Yukino Kishii, with whom he had worked in advertising.

The program actually uses the method of “long phone calls” and records only voice exchanges without seeing each other face-to-face. Please look forward to the intimate “long phone call” between two creators who symbolize the era.

In addition, the narration will be provided by U-zhaan, a tabla player who regularly appears in the audition corner and acts as a stand-in for “RADIO SAKAMOTO.”
