XY, a 13-member boy band produced by global artist YOSHIKI, released their first “amoeba-style” digital single “GET STUPID” featuring the eight dance and vocal members today, along with the music video.
The “Ameba Shiki” single is the second consecutive release, following last week’s BAND song “YG”.
This is the first release for the dance and vocal members.
XY is made up of 13 members, including 5 BAND members and 8 dance and vocal members. The members are active in both groups, but they move between groups fluidly, changing form like an amoeba, making them a very rare and unique male group.
The band’s song “YG,” released last week, won first place on the iTunes Alternative Songs Ranking. Their latest song, “GET STUPID,” is also currently ranked first on the iTunes Alternative Songs Ranking and is also on various playlists. (As of June 14th)
“GET STUPID” fully demonstrates the members’ efforts and talent to be “authentic,” creating the thrill and excitement of climbing the ladder to success.
The addictive “STUPID” that is repeated in the hook is catchy and also has a slang meaning of “That’s crazy!”, making it a perfect wording for the cool group XY.
The music video released today expresses the eight members’ determination to “be stupid (in a good way)” and “show our own expression/strong beliefs without being influenced by others,” and shows them shining with their free expression. The video is brimming with the charm of this first dance and vocal work, with the distinctive choreography of the hook and KOSEI’s performance in which he performs a rap for the first time.
