Singer-songwriter Ueno Daiki has written a new web video entitled “TeamMate, If You Were Not Here,” which is part of an annual project to support club members run by Otsuka Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Tokyo)’s nutritionally balanced food CalorieMate. The video is now available on Otsuka Pharmaceutical’s official YouTube channel.
The theme of this video is “teammates.” Why do students join clubs when they have the option of not joining one? After interviewing students, it was revealed that it was the presence of “teammates (friends)” that led to this.
There are emotions that could only be experienced, confidence that comes from hard work, and sights that could only be seen because of teammates. While there are times when they feel jealousy or regret, they also meet teammates who are both friends and rivals who help each other improve and support each other. This time, the support project for club members depicts the existence of “teammates” who are not just “friends,” but who combine many different elements, as they are people who motivate you to do your best but also make you feel regretful.

Ueno’s childhood dream of becoming a professional soccer player was shattered due to an injury.
This newly written song is based on Ueno’s own true story of overcoming numerous setbacks and difficulties to get to where she is today, and depicts that scene. It is a song that will encourage many people.
– Comment from Daiki Ueno –
I wrote a new song called “Keshike” for the CalorieMate CM theme song. The same scenery we see every day. What lies beyond that? What happened before that? I wrote it while remembering the days when I felt that everything was precious, both in front of me and behind me.
