MEST, a legendary pop punk band from Chicago, USA, has released their first new mini album in about four years, “Youth”! A single featuring Crossfaith’s Kenta Koie is also available!

MEST, the legendary Chicago pop punk band, has released their new 7-track EP “Youth” digitally, their first in four years.

The EP “Youth” is the band’s first in about four years since releasing their seventh full-length album “Masquerade” in January 2020, before the world was shut down due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It contains seven MEST classics with catchy hooks and choruses, including the popular single “When We Were Young (feat. Bowling For Soup)” featuring Jaret Reddick of Bowling For Soup, “Hate You Sober featuring Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills” with guest appearance by Spencer Charnas of Ice Nine Kills, and “Barely Hanging On featuring Adrian Estrella of Zebrahead.”

“Many of the inspirations for the songs on this EP came during drives to the recording studio.
I listened to a lot of the songs I listened to when I was a child in Los Angeles, and many memories and places came back to me in the songs.
Looking back on memories from the past, we create memories for the new era.
These songs are a cheer to the past and a toast to the future.”

In addition, although it is not included on the mini-album, the single “When We Were Young feat. Kenta Koie of Crossfaith” featuring Kenta Koie from Crossfaith is currently available for download.

“I couldn’t believe it when Tony DM’d me and said, ‘I want Ken to sing a song.’ I was listening to a band in my youth, and I even went to see them when they came to Japan, so I thought to myself, what a dream band is. Then I received the song, and I was so happy that I laughed alone in the studio, saying, ‘This is full of MEST!’ At the same time, I thought there would be no point in me just singing the lyrics he wrote, so I added screams to the chorus, which I think makes it sound more like me. I’d love for young people who don’t know MEST to listen to it too! MEST IS NOT DEAD!’ Ken
