This song was produced by Gunma-based beatmaker yuhei miura, who is devoted to Lo-Fi Hiphop and Chillhop and has released works from overseas labels. This song, released in the rainy season, is a song that captures the moment when you want to burn the last scene into your memory when you are saying goodbye to a loved one. The piano and string arrangement is by Fukuoka-born, Tokyo-based keyboardist/composer Osamu Fukuzawa.

The song has a simple arrangement unlike any other, with an impressive phrase repeated in the chorus and piano and beats that accentuate the vocals. It is a departure from THREE1989’s city pop image, and is a song that is conscious of space and resonance.

In order to match the different style of the music this time, the mastering and Dolby Atmos were done at “big turtle STUDIOS,” a studio run by origami PRODUCTIONS, which is home to Ovall, Kan Sano, Nenashi, and other artists who have been helping THREE1989 since before their debut.

<Comment from Yuhei Miura>
I am very happy and proud to be able to release “Last Tape” with THREE1989. We met miraculously on the street in Shibuya a few years ago, and since we are the same age, we immediately hit it off. This wonderful connection and miracle has brought us this far.

I usually produce Lofi hiphop and Chillhop, but this time I’m going into the pop world.
This new endeavor was very stimulating for me and I learned a lot.

Shohei Uemura’s vocals are special in this song. I feel like there is a lot of emotion in his voice.
I am once again grateful for his talent and have gained a lot of inspiration from working with him again, and I am truly impressed by his passion and professionalism.

“Last Tape” is a song that expresses the transience and beauty of life. It is filled with the various emotions and memories we feel in our daily lives.
I believe we were able to achieve this beautiful expression thanks to the emotionally stirring piano sounds of Osamu Fukuzawa, who also participated in the piece.
I hope that listening to this song will give listeners an opportunity to confront their own experiences and emotions.

I sincerely hope that this song we have created together will reach listeners all over the world.
I hope this song touches your hearts and we can share a special moment together. I believe in the power of music and I want to continue to create great works with them.

I was invited by Yuhei Miura to participate in the song.
I cherished the first impression I had when I first heard the demo, and expressed the inspiration I received by coloring it with piano, synth, and strings.
I love the gentle sound and fleeting worldview of this song.
I’m happy to be able to join you, THREE1989 and Yuhei-san. Thank you very much!

THREE1989 (pronounced: Three)
Shohei (Vocals)
Datch (DJ)
Shimo (Key)
The group consists of three members born in 1989.
Each of the three members writes their own lyrics and music, and their music is characterized by a “New Nostalgic” feel that is modern yet somehow nostalgic, combining sounds from the 70s, 80s and 90s such as New Jack Swing, Funk, Disco and R&B with dance music.
Their live performances are a testament to Shohei’s (Vo) overwhelming vocal ability and beautiful voice, Datch’s (DJ) playing style that goes beyond the bounds of DJing, making extensive use of scratching and samplers, and Shimo’s (Key) high level of performance ability, able to use a variety of instruments.
So far, they have performed solo concerts at Liquid Rooms and at many festivals in Japan, as well as overseas in countries such as Taiwan, Korea, and Spain. They have also collaborated with many other artists, releasing collaborative songs with overseas artists such as Ink Waruntorn (THA), LINION (TWN), and Midas Hutch (NLD), expanding the scope of their activities to the world.
