DJ KOO (from TRF) appeared as a lecturer at the “avex class” held on Thursday, June 27th at the Yokkaichi campus of Daiichi Gakuin High School in Yokkaichi City, Mie Prefecture, and gave a career education class to approximately 190 students in person and online.
“Avex Class” is a teaching program run by Avex Inc. as part of its sustainability activities. In this program, artists, talents, and creators visit educational institutions around the country and teach children the importance of “the power to believe in talent and dreams” through their own experiences.
The school, which is a correspondence school for students who want educational programs not available in full-time schools and students who have experience of not attending school or dropping out of high school, requested that he give a talk that would help students learn about different values, and this class was made possible.
DJ KOO, who served as the instructor, talked about his encounter with DJs and anecdotes with his mentor, saying, “When I started DJing and appearing on variety shows, I was sometimes concerned about the reactions of those around me. But at times like that, I would turn my attention to the people who were working hard alongside me and listen to the voices of those who supported me. By challenging myself to do things I had never done before, I felt that I was giving energy to the people who saw me, so I was able to approach it positively.”
During the second half of the Q&A session, he sent a message to students who were anxious about their future: “There will always be anxiety. It’s okay to fail, and if you try your best without being afraid of failure, I think the people around you will support you. Don’t rush, take it one step at a time.” It was impressive to see the students in the audience listening intently, as if they were touched by what he said.
Furthermore, when asked about maintaining motivation, she answered, “The most important thing is not to hold back. Don’t tell yourself that this is enough, but do everything you can without holding back, and that will also help maintain your motivation. If people have high expectations of you, give 200%! Don’t set limits!”, offering some powerful advice about the attitude you should take when approaching things.
In the middle of the show, DJ KOO played seven songs including “EZ DO DANCE”, and the students enjoyed themselves by waving their hands and clapping along to the music.
At the end of the lesson, he gave the students a message of encouragement, saying, “There will be good things and bad things. Turn today’s energy into power and work hard towards your dreams!”, encouraging them to take a step towards their dreams.
