The book “Long Phone Call” was first published in 1984 by Ryuichi Sakamoto’s publishing company, Honhondo, and is a collection of conversations between composer and pianist Yuji Takahashi and Ryuichi Sakamoto.
The topics discussed during their lengthy phone call were wide-ranging, going beyond the boundaries of music and art, and many of the words that came out of their light-hearted conversation were very thought-provoking.
In fact, this book, including its “long phone call” technique, has influenced many artists, and now that it is out of print, it has come to be called a legendary classic.
On August 30th of this year, “Long Phone Call” will be republished as the second release from the book label “Sakamoto Books,” following the book “Sakamoto Books.”
Reservations start today, Friday, July 5th.
Reservations can be made on the “Sakamoto Books” page on Value Books or at bookstores nationwide.

At the 77th Cannes Film Festival, we will be bringing you a long phone call with director Yamanaka Yoko, who won the FIPRESCI Prize for “The Namibian Desert” (released September 6th).
