Japan’s largest art and culture festival attracts 40,000 people “MEET YOUR ART”, which creates intellectual property in the art field and provides access to artists, has been certified as “This is MECENAT 2024”

Avex Creator Agency Inc. (Headquarters: Minato-ku, Tokyo; President and CEO: Shinsuke Kato) is pleased to announce that its art project “MEET YOUR ART,” which creates intellectual property in the art field and provides a wider range of opportunities to connect with art and artists, has been certified as part of “This is MECENAT 2024” on Thursday, June 13, 2024, as an activity that creates a rich society through the promotion of arts and culture.

“This is MECENAT 2024” is a certification system organized by the Japan Association for Corporate Support of the Arts, which aims to demonstrate the social significance of corporate support activities (activities to create a rich society through the promotion of arts and culture) undertaken by companies and other organizations across the country. Certified activities are issued with a “Mecenat Mark” as a symbol, and to date, a total of more than 1,500 activities have been registered, including pure support for arts and culture as well as efforts to solve social issues such as the environment, welfare, and regional revitalization.

“MEET YOUR ART” was launched in December 2020 as a YouTube program dedicated to contemporary art as an art project that creates intellectual property in the art field and provides a wider range of opportunities to connect with art and artists. After that, in 2022, we will hold “MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL,” one of the largest art and culture festivals in Japan, which brings together and connects diverse adjacent cultures such as music, food, fashion, and lifestyle with art as the core. In 2023, we expanded the scale, introducing more than 100 artists and attracting 40,000 people over four days. In addition, in November of the same year, we opened “WALL_alternative,” an evening art space with a counter bar attached to an art gallery where works by contemporary artists are exhibited and sold, creating a space where people can enjoy art on their daily routes.

The above initiatives have been certified by the Japan Association for Corporate Support of the Arts as “This is MECENAT 2024” as an initiative to create a rich society through support for the arts and culture.

■ Overview of the contemporary art program “MEET YOUR ART”
In addition to interviewing artists and sharing a wide range of knowledge about contemporary art, the show will also set up an online shop and a brick-and-mortar venue where viewers can purchase works by the artists featured on the show, providing viewers with an opportunity to experience art and have a purchasing experience, as well as serving as a platform to support the activities of young artists in particular.

■ Overview of “MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL”
Starting in 2022, it will be one of Japan’s largest art and culture festivals, aiming to create awareness of the appeal of each culture across disciplines and design new encounters and discoveries in art by bringing together adjacent cultures such as music, food, fashion, and lifestyle with art as the core. The third MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL 2024 “NEW ERA” has been decided to be held in October 2024. The theme of this festival is “NEW ERA”, and we will attempt to deepen it into a unique art festival where you can experience new movements in art and culture overseas, mainly in Asia, which are gaining momentum, not just in Japan. In addition, by creating the festival in collaboration with cutting-edge artists, curators, and directors from Japan and abroad who will be the future leaders of culture and art, we aim for MEET YOUR ART FESTIVAL to be a launching pad for their future activities, and a starting point for diverse talents to gather, mix, and create further new waves.

■ Overview of “WALL_alternative”
It opened in Nishi-Azabu, Minato-ku, Tokyo in November 2023 with the following three concepts, aiming to be a unique space that can serve as a hub for various cultures, with a focus on art, where diverse people can gather and organically intersect to give birth to new movements.
1. An art space that suits your lifestyle and where adults can enjoy art at night
Exhibition and sale of works by artists, mainly contemporary art, and special projects unique to WALL
2. A hub that crosses diverse cultures with art and music as its core and gives birth to new movements
3) A counter bar will be set up to create a community where quality encounters and collaborations can take place.
