Actor Yamatani Kasumi updated her social media on the 7th.
It was announced that he will be appearing in the Fuji TV Monday 9pm drama “The Beginning of the Sea” (every Monday at 9pm), starring Meguro Ren (Snow Man).
The film tells the story of a man whose life changes when the protagonist Natsu (Meguro Ren) learns of the existence of a daughter related to him by blood following the death of Nagumo Mizuki (Furukawa Kotone), his girlfriend from his time as a university student and whom he hasn’t seen in seven years since their breakup.
The screenwriter of “Silent” (2022/Fuji TV), Miku Ikukata, director Taiki Kazama, and producer Ken Murase have reunited.
This is a completely original work with the theme of “love between parents and children,” which carefully depicts the love that develops between people and a family story.
The first episode, which aired on the 1st of this month, has been viewed an unprecedented 3 million times on “TVer.”
At the time of broadcast, words related to the drama trended on “X (formerly Twitter),” and the title “#The Beginning of the Sea” was the number one trending topic worldwide, getting the drama off to a great start.
In this much-talked-about production, Nogi Natsumi, the homeroom teacher at the elementary school that Umi (Izumiya Sena) attends, will be played by the talented actress Yamatani Kasumi, who has appeared in the TV drama series “Ranman” and the historical drama “The 13 Lords of the Kamakura” and is currently garnering attention for her excellent performances in the dramas “New Airport Occupation” and “Unmet,” both of which will air in 2024.
Yamatani plays Nogi Natsumi, who is concerned about Umi, who lost her mother at a young age and has to attend elementary school from a house outside the school district, and Umi also seems to love Natsumi-sensei.
Regarding her appearance in this series, Yamatani commented, “I will be appearing as a regular in the July Monday 9pm drama “The Beginning of the Sea” as Nogi Natsumi. This will be my second time in a series following “Silent” and “My First Favorite Flower.” I am looking forward to seeing what kind of summer will be depicted on the map based on the wonderful script that Ikukata has written.” She expressed her joy at being cast in another hit Ikukata production.
In response to Yamatani’s post, people have been sending in comments of congratulations on her being cast in a Monday 9pm drama, such as, “Congratulations on being a regular in the Monday 9pm drama!”, “Next up is to be her homeroom teacher in elementary school!”, “I look forward to watching every episode,” and “I’m so happy I’ll be able to see Kasumi again on Mondays!!”
Yamatani has been a regular cast member in three consecutive prime-time terrestrial dramas since January this year, and his popularity is steadily increasing.
Anticipation is building to see what kind of spice Yamatani will add to the story in this installment.
“The Beginning of the Sea” is broadcast on Fuji TV every Monday from 9:00pm to 9:54pm.
