[Takaishi Akari]plays the role of a senior to the main character Fujiyoshi Natsurin (Sakurazaka46), “Before I knew it, I was thinking about how to make Fujiyoshi-san smile”[Film “Rookie Reporter Trocco If I don’t do it, who will?” Completion ceremony stage greeting]

Actor Akari Takaishi appeared on stage on the 11th at the completion ceremony for the film “Newbie Reporter Trocco: If I don’t do it, who will?” held in Tokyo.

He talked extensively about episodes from filming and stories related to the “Rookie” title.

The film was originally conceived as a proposal that Shotaro Miyagawa created as a class assignment while he was a student at Nihon University College of Art, Department of Film. Set in a high school newspaper club, the film asks what good and evil and justice are for those of us who live in society, through the eyes of a rookie reporter from the high school newspaper club who struggles on the edge of the microcosm of society known as “school,” a place that everyone will experience in their lives. It is a refreshing, socially conscious youth entertainment film.

Takaishi won the Best New Actress Award at the 15th TAMA Film Awards last year.
Most recently, she has been cast in the drama “Crashing JK and haijin teacher Lesson 2” (MBS/TBS Dramaism), the film “Baby Warukyure Nice Days” (released September 27th), and the anime film “Your Color” (released August 30th), and has continued to appear in films and dramas one after another, making her a young actor who is currently attracting a lot of attention.

In this film, Takaishi plays Sugihara Kasane, the eccentric captain of the newspaper club, who is passionate, headstrong and unconventional in her reporting, while also teaching the know-how of journalism to Tokoro Yui, a literature-geek first-year high school student known as Trocco, played by Fujiyoshi Natsurin.

Takaishi began his speech by saying, “I’m excited to receive the work for the first time.”

When asked about episodes from on set, Takaishi began by saying, “He was extremely cute,” and continued, “Kasane was the type of character who would lead Yui, so before I knew it, I was thinking about how to make Fujiyoshi smile, and I would ad-lib with the director during filming and suddenly surprise him.” It seems they built a relationship between the newspaper club captain and his junior.

Regarding her impression of Fujiyoshi, Takaishi said, “What really impressed me was Fujiyoshi’s eyes,” and continued, “When I was shown footage of him as an artist, I thought his eyes were beautiful, but when he was playing Tokoro Yui, his eyes were different. When our eyes met, he had a mysterious look in his eyes that made me feel like we were really connected.” When asked if she had spoken to the director about eyes, Takaishi confessed, “I don’t have any light in my eyes.” Looking back on the filming, she said, “The director told me that when people speak with passion, light shines in their eyes, so I was always conscious of my eyes while acting.”

Next, in reference to the movie, when asked about an episode where he was forgiven for making a mistake because he was a “rookie,” Takaishi began, “A long time ago when I was performing on stage,” and confided with a bashful look on his face, “I was singing alone during a break in an empty theater, and because the microphone on stage was on, it picked up my voice and my entire voice leaked into the waiting room, so I got scolded.”

Also, in a segment where rice-shaped snacks were handed out to members of the press, in reference to the “rookie reporter” title, Takaishi was impressive as he looked the reporters in the eye and forcefully said, “Please” as he handed them over.

Finally, the MC read out a message from the film’s director, Keiichi Kobayashi, to each of the cast members. The director said to Takaishi, “You embodied the sense of speed that was the theme of the film. I remember being encouraged many times by the way you always enjoyed acting even in the toughest of situations. I don’t think this film would have been possible without you,” to which Takaishi replied, “I’m so happy.”

In addition to Takaishi, the main cast members Fujiyoshi Natsurin, Kumagaya Rinka, Nakai Tomomi, Tsuna Hironaga, and Takashima Kohei appeared on stage to greet the audience, livening up the venue.

The film “If I don’t do it, who will?” will be released nationwide on Friday, August 9th.
