The band was formed in the fourth grade of elementary school, but disbanded in the fifth grade because everyone played guitar. Afterwards, one of them became interested in Latin American music and studied abroad at the University of Havana in Cuba. He learned conga there and mastered the rhythm pattern “cho co pa co cho co quin quin.” CHO CO PA CO CHO CO QUIN QUIN reunited in 2021 and is exploring music that adds fake shamanism to electronic music centered on percussion.
The 1st album “tradition” will be released in July 2023. The musical style, which can be described as “Yojohan Tropicalia,” which is a crossover of musical styles from various cultures around the world, attracted attention. Although the group was only formed for a short time, they performed at “Asagiri JAM” in October of the same year and “FESTIVAL de FRUE” in November. In January 2024, we will release the CD and analog version of our 1st album “tradition”, which will be the first packaged work for national distribution. Furthermore, in the same month, Spotify selected him as “RADAR: Early Noise 2024”, a next-generation artist expected to make a breakthrough in 2024. In March, the song “Watatsumi” was used as the commercial song for JR East’s “TOHOKU Relax”. In addition, it has been decided that they will appear in large festivals one after another, such as “FUJI ROCK FESTIVAL’24”, “CIRCLE’24”, and “Mori, Michi, Ichiba 2024”, and their future success is expected.
Today, they released their latest single “Correspondances”, which includes 3 songs. The included song “Adan no Umibe” was created based on the inspiration the members received from a visit to Amami Oshima in 2023. This song is based on the masterpiece “Seaside of Pandanus” by Kazumura Tanaka, a painter who pioneered a new frontier in Japanese painting by painting subtropical birds and nature in Amami. In addition, the production of this song was featured on “Document 20min. Night Light Ride” broadcast on NHK General on Monday, March 4, 2024, and the song was created based on experimental sampling. All eyes were on the three members as they proceeded. In addition, it will be a digital single with a total of 3 songs, including the title track “Correspondances” and “Let me hear your voice.” This is their first new song since their 1st album “tradition,” and it is a long-awaited release for music fans. You could say that.
Please listen to this work, which is interspersed with the voices of birds and animals played by synthesizers, and the contradictory approach of depicting nature with electronic music creates a mysterious warm sound.

In addition, they participated in the project “Sound Collection Lyrics” to create new songs by collecting the scenes of the lyrics of famous songs. The reinterpreted version of “Nihon Zenkoku Shudoku Ondo -Collected Lyrics Ver-” Music Video has been released on YouTube.
We have reinterpreted the lyrics of “Japan Zenkoku Shudoku Ondo” released by the comic band “Barracuda” in 1979, and collected sounds to match the lyrics. A total of around 30 environmental and daily life sounds are used to decorate the song, including the moment a beer cap falls off and the sound of a wind chime. It’s a work that you can enjoy while imagining what kind of sounds are used where, so be sure to check it out as well.
