[Takano Akira]”It was encouraging” to work with people of the same generation in the drama “Smearing Mud on My Face” press conference

On the 7th, actor Takano Akira attended a press conference for the TV Asahi Saturday night drama “Throwing Mud on Your Face” (TV Asahi, July 13th (Saturday) every Saturday from 11:30pm), which starts today on the 13th.

This drama is based on the popular comic “Putting Mud on Your Face” (Zenon Comics/Core Mix) by Yoshikazu, which caused a big stir on social media, and stars Hikaru Takahashi. The main character, Miku Yuhara (Hikaru Takahashi), who started to move forward after meeting a makeup-wearing guy by fate, confronts her boyfriend who has turned into a moral harasser, and changes her life with the power of makeup in this life-changing love story.

Takano began his entertainment career with Tensai Terebikun, and has experience appearing in the NHK Kohaku Uta Gassen and the Japan Record Awards with Dream5. Since then, he has been active mainly on stage, making use of his overwhelming performance skills in singing and dancing. In recent years, he has made a name for himself with a number of works, including the musical Touken Ranbu series and the stage Hypnosis Mic -Division Rap Battle- series, and last year he was in the spotlight for his lead role in the stage play Kingdom. The overwhelming acting skills he has cultivated there are also on display in films, and this spring he has appeared in several works, including Quruli -Who Fell in Love with Me?, Kimi to Yukite Saku -Shinsengumi Seishunroku-, and Overprotective Young Master’s Apology Marriage, making him one of the most powerful and talented actors today.

In this film, Takano plays Onitake Shuuma, an elite lawyer who doesn’t put up any barriers between himself and others, has a light-hearted attitude and is able to close the gap with people. Contrary to his initial impression of being a playful guy, he actually passed the bar exam straight away.

Appearing alongside fellow cast members Takahashi Hikaru, Kimura Keito, and Nishigaki Takumi, Takano began the event by introducing the character he plays, Onitake Shuuma, as “a young lawyer and an elite like Haru. However, he is also very tolerant and cheerful, and because of that he is a mysterious man who stirs things up, and his true character is not revealed until the second half of the film.” He continued, “I’ve only been able to participate in filming for one day so far, so I hope to have the opportunity to deepen my interactions with you all today.”

When asked about the atmosphere on set, he said that although he was only able to participate in one day of filming, Takahashi Hikaru and Kimura Keito came to the set on that day, and he said, “It was reassuring.” He added, “It was a really bright set as we continued filming together, and it was good that we were able to interact with each other because we’re the same generation.” It seems that filming is progressing in the good atmosphere that only people of the same generation can have.

Afterwards, Idegami Baku, who is the makeup supervisor for this drama, appeared and in a corner where Idegami judged Takano’s usual beauty methods, Takano said, “When I wash my face, I rinse it off immediately after about 1 second,” which the other cast members commented was “too fast,” but Idegami’s rating was an unexpected “O.” Takano was surprised that it was a “non-drying face washing method,” but seemed confident, saying, “When I forgot to wash my face in the countryside, I tried it and my skin condition improved, so I’ve been doing it ever since.”

Next, as the topic was “life-changing love stories,” Takano was asked about turnarounds in his life so far. He began by saying, “I’ve been in first place a lot of times,” and explained that from kindergarten through the early years of elementary school, I was unrivaled in running races and marathons, but as I got older, I would get overtaken in the final stages of a marathon by my friends who were learning other sports, and it was frustrating.” He went on to describe his unexpected “turnaround,” and the audience was silent for a moment, but then burst into laughter.

Takano’s momentum did not slow down after that, and when asked about measures to prevent summer fatigue on the set,
Takano, who says he sweats a lot and has trouble wearing a suit during filming, said he copes by “eating mozuku seaweed,” to which his co-stars remarked that they have never seen him eat it on set.

Finally, when asked about his favorite part of his face, he said “the mole under my right eye,” but instead pointed to the spot under his left eye, which elicited laughter from the audience. When the MC asked him if he really liked it, he honestly replied, “I’m glad it exists because I forget where it is,” giving us a glimpse into Takano’s personality.

It will be exciting to see how Takano will play Onitake Shuuma, whose personality is the polar opposite of the character he showed during the press conference.

The drama “Throwing Mud on Your Face” will start on July 13th.
