The 23-member group Bokutai no Aozora (commonly known as Bokuao) debuted on August 30, 2023 with “Aozora ni wo Kangaeru” as the official rival of Nogizaka46. At the end of 2023, they won the New Artist Award at the 65th Japan Record Awards, and their second single “Sotsugyo Made” released on January 31, 2024, was the first to introduce a selection system, which became a hot topic. Winner of the Botchan Literature Award in 1995, the coming-of-age novel Ganbatte Ikimasshoi (Ganbatte Ikimasshoi) (written by Yoshiko Shikimura) has been adapted into a number of live-action films and TV dramas, and has universal appeal.
The story of a group of high school girls who dedicate their youth to the rowing club in Matsuyama has been set in modern times and is finally being made into a feature-length animated film for the first time. Since its theatrical adaptation was announced, this work has been creating a lot of excitement, with a super-star cast of voice actors and rave reviews overseas for its entry into the Annecy Presents category at the world’s largest animation film festival, the Annecy International Animated Film Festival 2024.
