Pirika collaborates with Plogging Japan to realize earth-friendly entertainment
“STAR ISLAND 2024″ is a large-scale event that many customers will enjoy as futuristic fireworks entertainment. This event is not just fireworks entertainment, but is based on the concept of “a place for experimenting with ideas that will make the earth a wonderful planet in the future.” We will implement and disseminate various experimental sustainable contents such as , zero waste campaign, etc. As part of this effort, we have collaborated with Pirika and Plogging Japan to plan “STAR ISLAND Plogging” with the aim of realizing a new cleanup aimed at achieving symbiosis between the tourism business and the local community.
Plogging is a new form of fitness that originated in Sweden and is a combination of jogging and trash picking. Running with your friends and picking up trash is an activity that is kind to your body, mind, and the global environment. Based on its wide-ranging effects, such as improving health, relieving stress, and promoting social interaction, our goal is to have fun with your friends and before you know it, you will be contributing to society.
Pirika, a trash-picking SNS, is the world’s largest trash-picking SNS where users pick up trash, post it, and send thanks and comments to each other. Released in 2011, a total of 350 million pieces of garbage have now been picked up from 130 countries and regions, and the cumulative number of thank yous has been approximately 30 million, creating a lot of communication through garbage pickup activities. In addition to online communication through picking up trash on SNS Pirika, we will also be holding a plogging event that originated in Scandinavia at each performance to promote eco-friendly activities by running and picking up trash in a healthy manner. We aim to provide “earth-friendly entertainment” that residents can enjoy in peace and comfort.

■Comment from Eiichiro Tsuneta, Chairman of Plogging Japan General Incorporated Association
“Plogging is a new form of fitness that combines jogging and trash picking. We aim to “contribute to society without calling it social contribution” through the three effects of physical, mental, and interaction on the participants (ploggers).
This time, together with STAR ISLAND and Pirika, we will carry out cleanup activities after the futuristic fireworks entertainment “STAR ISLAND 2024”. By collecting trash left behind after large-scale events, we not only eliminate negative impacts, but also provide positive value to the region by making the cleanup activities themselves enjoyable as entertainment. We look forward to enjoying plogging with many of you. ”
■STAR ISLAND Executive Committee Comments
“STAR ISLAND is held with the goal of sustaining the fireworks festival itself, which is a traditional Japanese culture, into the future. STAR ISLAND has been proposed as a “new fireworks entertainment” for modern society and markets by updating and creating new experiential value. As we were looking into ways to solve the garbage problem, which is one of the reasons why fireworks displays and other events have to be canceled, we came across Pirika and Plogging Japan. It’s done.
First of all, we hope that through this activity, “the venue will be clean after the event” and “local residents will no longer feel pessimistic about the garbage problem.” We hope that this activity will not only help sustain Japan’s traditional culture, but also help make the earth a little better in the future. ”
